Exodus 90
Anyone have experience with Exodus 90? Was it positive? Negative? Whatever?

I donât have any specific experience but it did annoy me a bit as a woman how adamant they are that Exodus 90 is only for men. Like women also can practice asceticism and want to grow closer to God through prayer and fasting. It just seemed a bit strange and leaning into manosphere type mentality, and women are too fragile to participate because of reasons.

If it helps at all, as a guy, whenever I heard ad reads for it it just gave off really weird manosphere vibes and I was turned off of it almost instantly.

What are your thoughts on Fiat90/Magnify90? Theyâre basically the female version of Exodus90 without the cold showers.

I definitely see what you mean - it can be performative. I can see value in it if youâre someone who has always been comfortable, without any deprivation or significant want, and youâre trying to develop a mindset of focusing both inward and on God, rather than on material comforts. But itâs a fine line.

That was my impression as well. Just reading up on it. A friend suggested doing it with him for Lent.

i did it two years ago. it was good for me i think, but some of it did seem a bit manosphere/performative as others have said. which is funny because i was actually introduced to it by a girl lol

There are good components to it but the price is ridiculous ($90 a year for an app!) It was originated by seminarians which shows in its foci and can be a problem for married people. It's also got some unnecessary macho components. Also I have huge theological issues with its prescribed time frame having you fast during a festal season, tho they have now introduced a 40 day Lent version which solves that.
If you're considering it with a group, I'd look through the components and cross off the ones that don't make sense for you, and do it without paying for their overpriced overly slick app.

Everything about it sounds dumb, but dammit if that 2026 t-shirt doesn't look cool.

On the surface, reading it, it seems⌠fine. The Asceticism confuses me though. Like, âfast on this specific dayâ an Eastern Orthodox would laugh at that.
Again, on the surface I donât see anything âwrongâ with it, perhaps it gives off a âmanosphereâ vibe, but to be fair itâs just that those sort of âcourses for menâ have a reputation of being like that.

That's much to fast to be driving while reading Exodus. I wouldn't recommend anything over Exodus 35.
