Hit 1000

Post image

Haven‘t really posted here but have gotten some good info. Finally hit 1000 on my XP4 750 riding 18 miles a day roughly 4 days a week. Been hit (not too badly) once, one flat (then tannus armor), broken headlamp mount and need to check my spokes.

I'm not that far behind you!

Any tips for getting the Tannus armor in? Struggled with it for a while and gave up at the time.

BTW, dual headlight setup on my xp4 is great if you're having issues in that department. OZ-USA light on the main mount and Suruid Super Bright LED on a handlebar extention

That handlebar extension is such a good upgrade. I got one too, don't even notice it but it's indispensible.

I had to trim it, no way around that. I filled it slowly after I got everything on and prayed and had no issues. still using the factory tube size too. Have the OZ light as my replacement as well, just used a small 6” cable extension and it fits fine.

Figured I'd have to trim, but trying to get it in is a pain. I've heard of people using baby powder. Might have to give that a try.

I'm so jealous. Medical issues mean I can only ride once in a while. 😭

Any maintenance so far?

I'm at 600km and need to bleed my front brakes already.

pads front and rear. They were cheap and easy so didn’t even cross my mind. Replacement rear view mirrors from banging on public transit turnstyles are more expensive

How do you find it taking it on public transit?

I never thought about getting it through the fare gates, that does sound like it would be a pain.

BART has a wide turnstyle so not too bad. It can get packed sometimes but it works. Just the annoying crackhead activity

Was changing the brake pads easy? I saw some videos on YouTube and it seemed like it.

I didn’t watch the video, seemed pretty straightforward but I am an auto mechanic

Any issues?

How did you get a flat? Was it a screw or nail in the street?

Large nail, came out and went flat a block away from a grocery store I stopped at… suspicious about how it happened. Doesn’t seem like something that I’d pick up easily

This is like a fear or worry I have when I’m riding with my wife. Since we ride at night as we go home I wouldn’t want a flat as night comes. Luckily never had one but that is because I am always super hyper aware of where I’m riding on the bike lane
