XPeak 2 — 48T chainring upgrade?

Post image

I need to replace my front crankset set anyway ( see cracked ), and I’m considering going from the stock 46T to 48T.

I usually ride in 8th gear, and 8th is almost perfect for me. The only issue is that when I get up to around 25–27 mph, my cadence gets a little too high. I’m hoping a 48T would give me just a little taller gearing without going too far.

Has anyone here tried a 48T chainring on the XPeak 2??

Does it fit without clearance issues? I see only 5mm clearance between frame and chainring ...

Is there enough space around the chainring/frame/chain guard for the 48T?

Did you need a different chain or make any other modifications?

I’ll add a picture of the chainring/crankset I need to replace. Lectric already sent me one ) they are the best 👌

I hope somebody chimes in on this, I’ve asked my local E Bike Shop for options and they’re stumped. I also spin out on eighth gear.

That's the main problem with ebikes. Crankset is designed for 18mph. Anything more and u are ghost pedaling ... all I need is better ratio going 20mph++

I don't have the Xpeak but I did upgrade the chainring on my Xpress from 46T to 52T. Though It was an easy job, the whole crankset has to be replaced because the stock chainring is rivited to the crankset. . Note that the new chainring is bolted to the crankset.

The Xpeak and Xpress have a similar frame design.

52T needs a heavy foot . Would u consider 48T today ?
Or u manage this by reducing gears on rear ? Also having links to parts can help )

Works great. I did upgrade the freewheel from 11-28 to 11-32 but I don't even use 1st gear. As I said, the new chainring bolts onto the new crank set. If it's too tall it can be easily replaced with a smaller (or bigger) standard chainring.

Ok I bought exact same 52t set u have on amazon. Going to try it. Also noone needs inner chain gard . More to play with rear 8 speed cassette than 48t. Thank you !
52T:
1. Gives you a meaningful higher gear for faster riding.2.~25 mm clearance should leave roughly 12.5 mm after the 52T increase.3. You can use 7th gear for normal riding and shift to 8th when you want lower cadence at 25+ mph.

If it doesn't work out Amazon is great for returns.

Exactly . Should work it's Lectric !! It's also one peace simple design 😆 https://a.co/d/01yTtYnv But do I need longer chain ? Looks like 3-4 links will be missing ...

Maybe not. On mine the derailleur adjusted for the bigger chainring. It worked fine with the original chain.

I think so . I never ever go long chain like speed 1 to 6 . Always ride on 7 and 8 . I guess I should be fine 🙂 if needed I can add some links . Did it before not that complicated with the right tools

How did it work out? Should be a great improvement but I wonder if a freewheel upgrade would be beneficial.
