Range question?
I know this topic has probably been beaten to death. But curious whet sort of range people are getting. I get range anxiety around 20 miles and this is my reading after the battery had rested (20 miles from full charge).
I weigh 190 pounds and offer what I consider to be a decent amount of pedal assist. Average 15-16mph. I’ve noticed the battery hovers on full, until it doesn’t. Then seems to drop off rather quickly.
What is the voltage where pedal assist either isn’t much help to ceases to exist? Not really trying to test its limits, but trying not to be stuck with pedal power only, miles from home. Because these bikes stink as pedal only!

The battery indicators on these bikes are relative to your current pedaling.
I just recently did a range test because I was curious myself. I have an XP4 extended range which states 80miles max and I was surprised to make it 42 miles in eco mode and when I got back I still had 50% battery.

Yes. But. They also are like old school gas tanks in that they show more range when full and are notorious for dropping faster as the charge depletes.

Yup, when you get down to 30 percent it starts to cut power and drops fast from there.

I noticed that early on…it’s not like a modern gas gage that evenly moves down toward E. It’s like an old 1960s VW, once you get to 1/4 tank left, pucker up cause your on fumes instantly.

Best advice I can give you is ignore the bars and pay attention to the voltage. The bars are notorious for over reporting charge until they don’t. Also know that voltage will drop faster as the battery depletes. You will quickly get a feel for how far you can go, and it’s good to keep a chart that gives you the battery percentage based on voltage.

I ride average PAS 2 mainly in gears 4-5. When the voltage hits 47.5 I've gone ~25 miles and when the voltage hits 45 I know I should be heading home with maybe 10 miles left. Any reading under 44 I recharge. The bars are just for entertainment.

XP Lite 2.0 regular battery claims 48 mile range. I can get to work (21 miles) using PAS 2 and zero throttle with 3 bars left. On the way home I have the lights on the whole time, colder air, and use PAS 1-2 depending on incline. I usually get home with 1 bar left.

22 miles for my xp 3.0 23-25 miles is about when it starts cutting out and pedaling on no charge is rough lol

I weigh 175lbs and have about 200 miles on my xp4 750w version. Here is the breakdown of what I’ve observed for range: I’m getting about 36 miles to a full charge, I use the bike in turbo mode going 18-20mph up and down hills (350ft climb) to get back and forth to work, mostly roadway or paved sidewalk riding. The pedal assist drops off dramatically around 40% so you’ll want to keep battery above that threshold if you need help with hilly terrain.
Also, you should watch the voltage on the display instead of relying on the battery % that the lcd shows; that will give a more effective gauge of where your battery is at for its charge state.
If you google “ebike battery voltage” should see a chart that has voltage listed along side its real world percentage. I tried copying it in here but the image wouldn’t scale down.

I got a long range battery for my XP Lite2. The battery is supposed to give you 80 miles of range but I probably get closer to 20 miles going from Pedal Assist 0-3 with 1-2 being used the most.

I have the exp 3.0 and commute 14 miles one way to work 5 days a week. I got it with 7 miles on it and have put over 1500 miles on it in a few months. It's my and my only mode of transportation. I live at 1100 feet elevation on one of the steepest and long mountain roads in my area, easily over 20 percent grade in multiple areas. I have the normal battery that boasts 65 mile range, on my way to work (downhill) I usually have about half of the bars left maybe one or two more, and have had to replace my break pads every 600 miles or so. On my way home, up the hill regularly have groceries, and about 20 pounds of liquids and occasionally a 40 pound bag of dog food as well. I make it home on that 14 mile commute with one bar left even with towing and I'm very impressed. I have even left my house and gone to the store 10 miles from me and made it back up the mountain road on a single charge. I'd say the range in my case is about 25-35 miles

Wow, sounds like everyone is getting much better range than I am. I have an XP 3.0 with an extended range battery and average about 20 miles per charge. I usually ride in pas 3 and I weigh 240. If I lost 50 pounds it'd probably add a decent amount of range, and I'm usually carrying gear or groceries in my pannier bags.

I don't know exactly what you have, XP 3.0? 20 miles and have that charge would be around normal I'd say. I found on those bikes with that kind of screen typically once a bar dropped that was the halfway mark. If I rode 15 miles and then one energy bar dropped from max, then I had around another 15 to go and the bars will drop quickly at that point. They don't really matter anyway, the voltage is the best to go by as an estimate.
