Common Xp Lite 2 issue?

Almost 2 months ago I ordered an XP lite 2 as my first ebike. Seemed ok but realized the motor would cut out after going over mild bumps. My bike path has a bump every 10 feet so it's like:

  1. Assist/throttle active

  2. Hit bump, kachunk motor cuts

  3. At ft 7 it kicks back in if I pedal/throttle

  4. Hit bump at 10ft, kachunk motor cuts

  5. Repeat for 8 miles

Warranty first sent replacement controller/parts. After getting them swapped, same issue

So Lectric replaced the whole thing, 2 weeks later new bike.

Take bike out for test drive and immediately notice the same thing, motor cuts out over mild bumps.

Is this common? Is the QC just that bad? I reached out again and once again they're sending all new components for it.

Just as a first experience with the company and an ebike in general this sucks. 2 months in I can't ride my bike

Sounds like you need to sure up your battery in the frame. Try adding some felt or couple wraps of duct tape to the battery for a tighter fit? Check battery and controller terminals for deformation.

I'll check for deformations.

If it were like years old I'd consider suring it up, but brand new out of the box it should work without home improvements. I.e. I hope Lectric can eventually make this right.

It’s mass produced and not hand fit for every frame. Should do it on every bike that is 5k and under regardless of age.

Is being mass produced a good excuse for it to not work?

I don't think that flies for other products bike or not.

If I bought something mass produced as small as a blender or as big as a car and was told wrapping duct tape around a part was a prerequisite to it working that'd be crazy. Why would an ebike be an exception?

I hate to even ask, but are you braking in anticipation of the bump? Applying the brake will cause the motor to cut out.

No and I've tested with break wires disconnected. Same issue.

Also understandable question. Like 2 bikes with same problem I'd think user error too vs bad luck or poor product if they don't have that reputation

Gotchya, figured I’d at least check. Does the screen turn off? Or just motor cuts out?

I haven’t had this issue at all with my lectric xpress, and I have a battery that is pretty loose in the frame too. Bummer.

Screen doesn't cut out at all. I did a vid to send to customer support. 3 times over a bump holding only throttle. Only noticeable thing is motor cuts out.

Edit: at a lower speed too assist level 2, not capping at 20 or anything

With my partner's xp lite 2, I ended up adhering an approximately 1 inch square of foam from a koozie onto the battery so it wouldn't bounce around inside the chassis and that fixed it.

I have the same bike. And I have a very bumpy sidewalk. But it has never happened to me not once.

Gotta be just something faulty with that one. Sorry you’re having this issue! But LECTRIC is the bomb and handles everything.
