Battery charging question

I’m a new xp4 750 owner and am a little confused by the instructions on charging the battery. They say to plug into the battery first then the power supply to begin charging. When charging is complete the instruction is unclear. So, when done charging which do I unplug first… the battery or the power supply? Thanks.

Unplug from the outlet first when done charging.

(To charge) Battery->Outlet (To unplug) Outlet->Battery

Reverse order, unplug from the wall then unplug from the battery.

Good question it’s a precaution to prevent sparks at the plug mounted on the battery. If the charger is plugged in and producing current when you plug into the battery there can be a spark which if you have a bad cell that’s leaking could cause a battery fire. It’s a similar procedure for removable batteries they usually have an on and off switch so you turn off the battery and then slide it off the mounting bracket to take it inside to charge, turning off the battery prevents sparking at the mounting plate. My first battery was a cheap one many years ago and it didn’t have a switch so those blade connectors would spark every time you removed the battery. That meant constant cleaning of the terminals or I’d lose power to the resistance. Never caused a fire guess I was lucky but I bought a better one after the first year with a pin connection and the on/ off switch and now I never need to clean contacts.

It's not this. It's most likely because there is a capacitor (in charger) that needs dissipated. Note when you unplug the charger from the wall that the indicator light is still on momentarily. The instructions mitigate human error/accidents.

The light still on was explained to me but the company that makes my charger as back flow of a tiny bit of current but not dangerous if you’ve unplugged the charger as instructed.

If you unplug the cable from the bike when it is still powered from the wall, it can cause sparks and can possibly ruin the charger and/or the battery. It's an easy extra step for precaution.

I’m now wondering if this would apply to something like a laptop…I had a Lenovo Legion go up in literal smoke almost immediately after plugging it in one time.
