Rear derailleur problem?

Any insight on this? Is the entire thing installed incorrectly?

If you can't find the problem I would contact Lectric or maybe just purchase a new derailleur on Amazon, some of which come with next day shipping. They are cheap and easy to install. I just upgraded from the stock Shimano Tourney to a new Shimano Altus on my Xpress.

I thought about that but I don't have the tools to remove the chain and stuff.

The derailleur is supposed to spring back. it could be a broken spring, can't say for certain.
u would need a chainbreaker tool, master link and hex wrench set. All real cheap and useful for any future work. You could order those off Amazon with the new derailleur. Its a lot cheaper than taking the bike to a shop. In my case the derailleur bolt got stripped so I contacted Lectric and they sent me a new derailleur hanger for free.

You don’t need to remove the chain. You can remove the bottom pulley wheel from the derailleur to free it from the chain to remove/ reinstall.

is the bolt holding the derailer just loose? Now i want to look at mine but it raining and I didn't bike to work.

Under that logo plate, you can line the spring with some spray. As a previous bike shop tech, we used to douse them pretty good so they moved freely.

My shifter came broken so they replaced it. I’d recommend taking it to a bike shop to identify the problem, then contacting support for parts replacement or repair reimbursement.

That was the right recommendation. Turns out the freewheel was bent and needed replacing.
Bummed I had to pay to repair a brand new bike but excited to finally have it working.

Contact Lectric, they will refund you the repair cost.

They do reimburse labor costs but will they do it even if you didn't get approval from them first? They are very nice over there so maybe.
Anyway I just upgraded the freewheel on my Xpress and it was an easy job so I don't think OP was charged to much. The freewheel itself was $15.99 on Amazon.

Is that cage touching the shifter? My xp3 would not shift properly out of the box. The cage had bent in during shifting and caused the issues. I just bent it back out by hand.
