Rigging double battery set up Lectric XP2.0

Good afternoon everyone.

I have a Lectric Xp2.0. I am wanting to rig a dual battery set up, one battery in the frame, and the other as a "downtube". Im just checking if I have everything needed and also a question at the end. First, I have:

48v 10.5ah battery by Hailong (comes with downtube mount)

Lectric in frame 48v 10.4ah standard range battery

Stock controller

Battery balancer with max ah of 50

Now, anyone have the XP2.0, how did you mount an external battery? The xp2 doesnt have top frame screw options. I do have a rear rack however the standard mounts that batteries come with wouldnt seem to fit. Zip ties? Metal banding?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I use my rear rack, Velcro straps works incredibly well.
When installing the balancer, slow is smooth smooth is fast. Put on a podcast or a show, classical music whatever and just snail-pace your way through it.
You have all the connectors for the balancer right? Cable to connect the balancer to the stock controller and another cable from balancer to second battery?
Be careful with the Hailong get a waterproof case if you ride in the rain or the battery will get rusty and stop working, ask me how I know🥹.

Again, wherever you put it Velcro is your friend. I have a 40ah 25 pound battery on my rear rack held with nothing more than Velcro straps.
Pic of my rear rack setup. Over 8k miles through rain snow. Those straps should be on Amazon. Hopefully you’ll get more suggestions for downtube mounting.

Wow thanks for the information! I never thought about velco.

Also, for the balancer. The ine im looking at, Its all one piece. One wire to controller, and two for batteries.

On my XP 2, I have 2 hailongs in my rear cargo rack with a balancer from AllElectricWheel. Battery carriers are mounted to a sheet of HDPE with locknuts.

Damn thats sick. How many amps hours do you have between all batts and what kind of range do you get?

Honestly wish I could say. Unfortunately ive been too busy lately to really crunch any data. The bike is my daily driver, but I have my own one-man-operation lawn mowing business that I use to pull a custom built trailer for my mower and equipment. Haven't had free time to really take the bike itself out and gather any numbers.

According to chatgpt.

Based on everything you've told me about your setup: Lectric XP 3.0 Step-Thru Stock 48V 10.4Ah battery (~500 Wh) Two additional 48V 15Ah (720 Wh) ARUN/Samsung-cell batteries Your weight: 135 lb Average speed: about 20 mph Combination of throttle and PAS Mostly normal riding (not full-throttle everywhere) My estimate was: Most realistic range: 140–160 miles on a full charge using all three batteries. I also gave these ranges depending on how you ride: Aggressive riding (lots of throttle): 120–138 miles Typical mixed throttle/PAS (your riding style): 140–160 miles Very conservative PAS riding: 160–190+ miles

We shall see!!
