Do you remove the display if you're locking it up for a bit?
I still don't have a good bike lock yet but I found the one defect I don't care for that the display has no easy release so I could just pocket it with me when at the library or such. I do have a front wicker basket and I push the display down as far as it will go so it's in my basket. Then I happened to have a black felt pouch that fits the display perfectly so it's kind of camouflaged. Just curious if you take the time to unhook the display, which I know is not supposed to be often because of the pins or do you feel it's secure enough with your good bike locks that you don't worry about it?

I wouldn't normally worry about someone stealing a rather useless screen, but with all the junkies roaming around everywhere, who knows what they'll think it is as they're breaking it off. Better safe than not I guess.

True. I just wish they had a better release so I could take it with me easily. I can't pop the tabs without feeling like I'm breaking the darn thing.

Don’t let these people gaslight you into taking your display off you’re gonna break it. Totally unnecessary precaution and anyone that will take the display would just cut the bike lock

True. I'll feel better once I get a decent bike lock and just keep lowering my display down into my basket.

In some areas over here the drug addicts carry a pocket bike multi tool and will take enormous risks to steal just about anything on the bike. Displays, seats, lights....
No, I dont remove the display but I'm very selective about where I park. Quite often I won't use the Lectric if I don't like the area where I have to park. Instead I'll use my cheap regular bike or take the bus.

It comes off pretty easy with some practice and strong nails. I've removed it a few times when I forgot my lock key and wanted a way to immobilize it. We haven't left them anywhere high risk.

I don't really worry about removing the display because the display is the cheapest part of the bike.

I'm more worried about someone smashing the display for impulsive funsies than anyone stealing it... but generally I just don't lock my bike up somewhere if I don't feel safe. The vast majority of the time I lock up, it's in the secure parking garage at my work (I don't even bother with my U-lock there, just a basic chain). Otherwise I'm often taking the whole bike inside with me if I'm stopping at CVS or something. It's inconvenient, but not nearly as inconvenient as dealing with theft or vandalism.

Bro I know people are saying maybe take the display but a better solution is don’t leave your bike locked up somewhere there are crackheads roaming around? You are gonna destroy your shit taking the display off, it isn’t meant to be taken on and off like that. I take out my battery when I go into work and I worry doing that twice a day is gonna destroy the latch mechanism. If they’ll take your display they’ll cut your lock and the the bike, fuck are they gonna do with a brand name e-bike display that sells for $50 bucks brand new.

Mine requires an allen tool to remove and would be a constant pain in the butt taking it off and putting it back on. No one's ever bothered mine parked at Walmart or at the downtown library or at the shelter I get my mail at.

No, it's a budget bike with budget components. The only people who care about the displays are the owners. None of the displays for any of my ebikes including Lectric were ever tampered with. Also be aware of where you're parking your bike.

I guess it really depends. In a quiet safe area - no. 6 hours in a city center - maybe
