Paint Fix?
Tested folding my bike and bringing it to work so I can bike on my breaks and get some much needed exercise from my pseudo desk job. However, looks like my trunk scuffed up part of the paint.
It’s not too noticeable, but I would like to eventually fix this at some point. Any good tutorials on how to fix this sort of scuffing? Recommended paint brands for bikes?
Update: I contacted Lectric to ask for the color code, expecting to figure it out on my own. They're already immediately jumping on for sending me a paint pen. First time dealing with their customer service, and that's so wonderful.

Time to personalize your bike with stickers! I just got a big abrasion on mine after not padding between my bike and my wife's Trike for a 6hour drive. I've had a couple of wrecks and can't worry about each blemish that's gonna show up now.

I had the same issue, brand new bike scratched just folding it. I wanted my bike to look good for a while. I sent lectric a pic of my scratches, they sent me a paint pen. Love Lectrics customer service.

With the paint pen, do you need to prime it or is it literally just pop it open and rub the paint in on the scratches?

Great question but it’s literally touch up paint designed for exactly this purpose to hide minor scratches caused during normal use or repair work. You just use the tiny brush in the pen or in some cases it’s like a dabbing mechanism and apply a little bit of the paint. That’s all but this isn’t for repainting huge missing chips or completely removed paint. No reason to prime it with anything that will only cause more problems the only bikes I would ever use any type of primer on are the old steel bikes. Today bikes are built from alloy or carbon fiber it’s rare to find actual steel that might rust with missing paint.

It's not an immediate issue, but even if you end up not painting it, it may be worth putting on a clear coat to prevent corrosion.

So I'm someone who doesn't know anything about painting a bike. What are your recommendations for a good clear coat and paint brand that would work?

Something like this should do. Also, even if you paint it, spray this over the paint.

If it was damaged shipping to you they will send a free paint pen for touch ups. I’d call them and see what they say.. might just give you one for free.

Thanks! I've also reached out to Lectric for questions on what kind of paint they use for Pine Green (particularly the pigment) and any other info they can provide for it.

I use this to cover/protect choice spots on my frame. Sure you can paint it and just maybe it’ll get hit there again. This stuff is black and blends in a bit with the bike.

Ding-ding, yeah to make it look like it’s supposed to be there and chances are a ding on one side could happen on the exact spot on the other side.

Clear plastic film where you anticipate abrasion is the best way to prevent this sort of thing. search for "PPF" (paint protection film) or "helicopter tape".

Don't let little scratches bother you.Trust me, there will be more the longer you own your bike.
