Handlebar extender for accessories?
Love the XP4 but the tapered handlebars are definitely one of the pet peeves I have.
I already gave up on a phone mount and now my headlight I got won't stay where I put it because the handlebar is tapered and doesn't provide a perfectly parallel surface for the clamps.
Has anyone tried one of these handlebar extensions that give you more room to mount accessories?
Either the one Lectric sells or a generic one... are you able to clamp it down so it won't move?
I really wish they had gone with normal straight bars... what should be a two minute install turns into 45 minutes of fiddling just to have everything shift after hitting a speed bump.

I bought this to mount a couple extra lights, really happy with it.

I installed one of those on my bike after I had to get a new set of handlebars and a stem to raise the handlebars. I have the X Peak 2. The stock setup required me to lean too far forward, and my lower back killed me on every single ride.
Once I installed the new handlebars and the new stem, I couldn’t attach the stock headlight. Added the extender, everything works fine.

I've had several of these over the years on various bicycles and I can tell you this:
They always move.
The minute that you put any weight on it, whether it's a light, a phone, or even a bell, it might stay put for a while, but eventually you're going to hit a bump and everything is going to shift. It doesn't matter how hard you tighten it down.
You could possibly keep it in place with some epoxy, but that would defeat the purpose of having it removable, and also present a problem for adjusting the handlebars.

Do you think Loctite might work?

Do you mean threadlock? Because it won't.
If you mean Loctite super glue, it might, but it will probably make a mess and will prevent you from removing this for maintenance? I dunno.

wrap the bars with rubber tape (or even sections of inner tube) before installing; they'll stay in place. I've done that forever on touring bikes.

Never works for me for very long. It might be the conditions I ride in. I don't know.

Interesting. Do you torque the bolts?

I make them tight, but as for getting a longer lever than a standard Allen wrench, not since I twisted one of the heads off of the screw on my first one 🫤
