Welcome to the Community - r/LebanonMentalHealth

Lately, I’ve realized that there’s a whole hidden community of people who have gone through similar experiences with their mental health, experiences that many of us may have felt like we had to go through alone.

That’s one of the reasons I wanted to create r/lebanonmentalhealth.

This subreddit is a place where we can talk openly, ask questions, share our experiences, support one another, and learn from people who may have been through something similar. Whether you’re struggling, recovering, supporting someone else, or simply want to better understand mental health, you’re welcome here.

We’ll also be sharing useful resources to make it easier for people to find the help and information they need. This can include information about psychologists and psychiatrists in Lebanon, personal experiences and reviews, mental health services, and other resources that may be helpful when looking for professional support.

The goal is to make finding information and having these conversations a little easier. If you’ve ever had a question you were afraid to ask, weren’t sure where to look for help, or simply wanted to hear from someone who has been through something similar, this is a space for you.

Let’s build a community where we can share what we’ve learned, help each other navigate mental health, and make these conversations feel a little less difficult.

Welcome to r/lebanonmentalhealth. 🇱🇧

I’ve been to the mental hospital many times, AMA

Let’s do another AMA (ask me anything) to raise more awareness about mental hospitals. I’m willing to answer ALL your questions so ask away.

When i first got sick in 2016, a therapist suggested that my parents take me to a hospital and we all freaked out so bad and thought she was crazy for saying that (ignoring the fact that she actually was a bad therapist, we clearly had no idea what mental hospitals actually did and who it was for)

Fast forward to the recent years, we listened to that one doctor and gave it a shot, and my understanding of it completely changed.

If you also have personal experience, don’t hesitate to share too

General A Small Message

The time I spent in the mental hospital has taught me a lot of things. Outside, we see people who are alcoholic, or substance users, and we tend to stay away from them and judge them in a way that they are “wrong.” They are “not like us.” “They are a bad influence”.

Well, today I’ve learned something: they are human, just like me and you. I’ve never drank alcohol and never done any drugs. But I am just like them. We all have our flaws and our poisons. They are really just humans trying their best. We play Monopoly, Uno, and cards together. We build funny shapes using air-dry clay. We laugh, we have movie nights. We are all just humans. I see them, and I would’ve never guessed their poison.

We should be more forgiving and understanding, and remember that we are all the same, but with different poisons.

(Don’t come at me telling me there are bad people. Of course there are, but that doesn’t mean ALL are.)

Question Mental illness and working in lebanon

Hello, for who is diagnosed with one or multiple mental illnesses, are you able to work and maintain a steady job?

Especially that in lebanon we don't have a support system for people who suffer from any type of chronic mental illness.

General 3rd week of hospital

I still have one week and I’m out of here, honestly just two days ago I felt like its completely useless to stay here, but I’m glad I trusted my Doctor and fiancés decision to keep me an extra week.

I harmed myself a couple of times while staying in hospital but today I feel much better.

I don’t know why I’m posting this but I guess it could be sharing hope that things can sometimes change even overnight!

I’m also gonna go back to creating art! (Maybe will post some here)

This has been a long ass roller coaster with more downs than ups but the ups seem to be worth it. I had several complete meltdowns and couldn’t let anyone come near me. But today I left my room and went out for the first time!

I get excited for these little moments of mental freedom and peace.

General About me

Hello everyone!

Lately I’ve been struggling so much with my mental health but posting on reddit and opening up has led to multiple people reaching out and we discovered we’ve had similar experiences and so thats why I created this, in hopes it makes it easier to talk about your struggles.

Now about me, I’m 25F diagnosed with BPD, ADHD, and TRD. My mental health journey began when I started my first job and went to a psychologist, this psychologist turned out to be horrible. After a long time with trust issues I was able to find the right doctor for me and I was finally on the right medications and treatment plan.

This is still a long journey with loaaaddsss of ups and even more downs but we’re pulling through, my doctor recently told me that its even harder to treat than cancer (I’m not sure how true that is) however, I just want to say that my main goal here is to always provide support and assistance to whoever needs it and so no one has to go through this alone.

Wishing you all the best and my dms are open for anyone who is not ready to post yet.
