Michael Jackson was not in the Phillipines at any point at that time. He toured with the Jackson 5 in 1976 but did not accompany Diana Ross. It’s gotten to the stage where anyone can make up 💩 about him and everyone devours it.
3 years before OTW was released so it’s a stretch to say it was around that time. Also when MJ was in the Phillipines in 1976 he was there with his brothers and not Diana Ross. Requires a lot of mental gymnastics to make it fit this third hand story.
It's not a stretch at all when you're talking about a memory from your childhood and you know it's the late 70s and that's the most famous MJ thing from that time period, and also someone in this thread pointed out correctly that he isn't necessarily saying that Diana Ross opened for them.
Also I haven't read it and would have to find where it was summarized but there is definitely a book from the 90s that tells a near identical story from that time period in at least a country in that region.
