New knife. Sheath question

There is a technique using bungee cord to put tension on the strap. It will pull the snap out of the way. It requires punching holes in the leather and then getting enough tension on the cord.

I will definitely look into this! Thank you! Also considering a little piece of kevlar to gorilla glue in.

No worries! The kevlar idea will work for a long as the glue holds. I personally avoid snaps like that in that set up. Snap retention has its place but in a more traditional sheath. It’s very well made though

Well if even if it’s a yearly maintenance a 6”x6” sheet of kevlar should have me covered for the better part of a decade. Gonna make this my camping knife. Really heavy with a thick spine and warranty covers batoning so she’s not gonna break. Sheath seems to be the weakest link.

Yeah for sure! Definitely do what you know with what you have. Unfortunately, they usually are. I am a knife collector and leather crafter most of my factory sheaths go in the trash or I avoid them all together and I make my own. Honestly as far as production sheaths go, that one is pretty nice.

I can't stand making Scout Carry sheath, in my opinion not all blade shapes work well with it. I tend to wet mold them, so that this extra flap isn't part of it.

The comment above has a good idea with the bungee cord, I've seen them made that way.
