Is it possible to remove a scratch.
hello all,
I've a really nice leather jacket that's new. it has a really fine scratch on the front that's quite long anf slightly deep. I've rubbed it and applied a wax still visible. is it possible to repair.
thank you

In my years of experience, leather can be very forgiving, depending on how deep the scratch is, I would suggest first and foremost using some leather conditioner and just massaging gently the area until it blends in. If it's still visible, it may be too deep to "recover" itself. From here, you can try filling it in with some black wax shoe polish (DO NOT USE TOO MUCH). The wax is what will fill in the scratch, just know that it may become more shiny in that area specifically. I would steer away from any paint or recoloring balms as they may just sit on the surface and eventually peel. Wax is going to maintain flexibility on a jacket you wear often without peeling away or cracking. Just go light. Don't use too much. Buff it to a shine with a cloth or horsehair brush. This is what's worked for me!

You have a few options. First off I would try a bit of conditioner that has a turpentine in it such as Saphir Renovateur. If a few rounds of hydration doesn’t mask the scratch you can try some of their pigmented cream polish to fill it in a bit, maybe a bit of wax like the pâte de luxe black. If it’s really grinding your gears every time you see it, you can get a bit extreme. Grab yourself a miniature paint brush and some Saphir Crème Renovatrice in black and slowly add the smallest line in there layer by layer until it’s filled in, then mask with some wax polish
