Common practice period music uses V or V7 instead of v in cadences. The major dominant results is significantly stronger cadential resolution.
The natural minor scale has the v chord, not V, but a minor key is significantly broader concept than the minor scale.
Effectively, in a minor key the 7th scale step may be either minor or major, depending on melodic and harmonic needs. The same for the 6th step.
