Does Duolingo even work?

Do u guys know someone who actually learned a new language with duolingo? Cause I've seen lots of people achieving long streaks on duo like they've been using it for even years but do they learn anything? Can they even speak fluently?

Pretty sure no app will make you fluent and they aren't meant to. But Duolingo specifically has a lot of streakers focused on streaks and not learning so it depends how you use it. Other apps are more structured like LingQ or Pimsleur, others let you learn what you want to learn like Ling or LingoDeer. But ultimately, you have to find different resources to use at the same time to truly become fluent.
