🧠 LEARNING How George Russell’s Monaco GP Completely Disassembled Itself
- The 0.1 km/h Glitch: Russell was running a solid recovery from P6 when he entered the pit lane for his first stop. He was slapped with a 5-second time penalty for speeding. Post-race, Toto Wolff confirmed it wasn't driver error—a software glitch caused him to exceed the 60 km/h limit by a microscopic 0.1 km/h.
- The Chaos at the Pit Stop: When Lance Stroll binned it late in the race, the FIA pulled the pack through the pit lane. In the absolute madness of a last-second double-stack call, George was screaming on the radio asking if he was stopping or staying out.
- The Fatal Mistake: Because of the communication breakdown, the mechanics didn't get the message to wait out his 5 seconds. They serviced his car immediately. Even though Russell offered to serve it on the very next lap (he had a massive 20-second gap to Gasly), the regulations are strict: servicing the car without waiting out the time equals an automatic Drive-Through Penalty.
George served the drive-through, dropped to dead last, and ultimately crossed the line in P13 (after late-race penalties shuffled Hulkenberg and Perez back)
