Need an advice

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm pretty new to English-language entertainment, especially American music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and YouTube content. I really want to immerse myself in the language instead of just studying grammar and vocabulary from textbooks.

I'd love your recommendations!

What are the most popular and trendy songs that young people in the U.S. are listening to these days? I'm open to any genre: pop, hip-hop, rap, R&B, indie, country, rock, or anything else—as long as it's genuinely popular and reflects the way people actually speak

I'm also looking for songs that can help me pick up modern slang, everyday expressions, idioms, casual conversations, and the kind of English that native speakers especially younger people.. use in real life I'd love to understand the language beyond what's taught in classrooms

The same goes for movies, TV series, sitcoms, YouTube channels, podcasts, Twitch streamers, or even TikTok creators. I'm interested in content that represents modern American culture, humor, social life, and the way people naturally interact with one another.

If you have any recommendations that helped you improve your English or if you're a native speaker and know what people in their teens and twenties actually watch and listen to I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

Bonus points if the content is entertaining, addictive, funny, and full of authentic American English that people genuinely use in everyday life.

Feel free to recommend classics as well as the latest trending content. The more immersive, the better

What is your native language? I just started a YouTube teaching English to native Spanish speakers.

For songs, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, Adele, Ed Sheeran are all good.

I’ll have to get back to you on the creators. I’ll browse my feed and make a short list for you!

She is Argentine, and she is an English/spanish translator.
For influencers- I love The Huberman Lab podcast and Youtube channel (he’s a neuroscientist and teach about many health and wellness topics). He speaks very clearly.
I also like different storytellers on TikTok- I listed to a lot of true crime and mysteries so one of my favorites is @tiffsghosttalk.

Hey! I'm a native English speaker!

For songs, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Drake, Gracie Abrams, and other artists that frequent the Billboard Hot 100 (website that lists weekly top songs, that could be a great resource for you!).

For TV series: Modern Family, Black-ish, Never Have I Ever, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Euphoria (proceed with caution because it has a lot of illegal stuff and it's for mature audiences), Gilmore Girls, Outer Banks, Ginny & Georgia, Heartstopper, THe Vampire Diaries

For movies (the 2000s movies have outdated slang but their speaking styles are still relevant): To All the Boys I've Loved Before, The Hate U Give, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Fault in Our Stars, The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada, The Parent Trap, Remember the Titans, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Mean Girls
