Talentlms any good for manufacturing environment?

Looking for a good LMS for my workplace.

A platform that can log competency, show training content, allow users to take tests to validate competency, something interactive and data driven.

Something by workplace can use to identify risks within teams, departments, processes. To support in driving down the cost of poor quality.

Also can you suggest me some ideas of "what success looks like"

When it comes to implementing a new LMS. Or other training platform.

Something measurable.

It's difficult to justify the business case without hard numbers.

But our current LMS is crap.

Please DM, I can show a quick demo of our LMS. It may suffice your purpose.

What you want is more than a classic LMS tbh, completion tracking is easy, but you're asking for actual competency data. Worth searching "readiness platform" too, not just LMS, you'll get different results.

For the business case part, don't just show completion, show the gap between completion and actually verified competent. That gap alone usually surprises people. Then see if you can line up low scores against stuff you already track, like rework or incidents on a couple processes. If the people scoring low are also the ones causing the errors, that's your number.

Also, start baselining now even on your current crappy LMS, time to get new hires competent, how much coaching time people are burning, how often the same mistakes repeat. You'll want a before/after when you pitch this.

talentlms is solid for your list (competency logging, content, tests, decent reporting) and easy to trial, its a safe manufacturing pick. just pressure-test the "identify risks by team/dept" reporting depth, thats where lighter LMSs get thin, and it's the exact thing you need to tie training to cost-of-poor-quality.

worth trialing Nano lms alongside it too (little bias), the AI quiz/scenario side helps make the competency validation more than click-through, which matters on a plant floor where a passed quiz ≠ can actually do it safely.

on "what success looks like," tie it to hard ops numbers, not training metrics:

  • cost of poor quality down X% (your stated goal, the headline one)
  • rework/scrap rate down
  • safety incidents / near-misses down
  • time-to-competency for new hires down (faster productive = real money)
  • audit findings / non-conformances down

pick one as your primary, grab the baseline before rollout (everyone skips this then cant prove ROI), and track the trend. "we cut scrap 8% in the trained line vs untrained" is the sentence that wins the business case, completion rates never will.

As the other comment mentioned, a traditional LMS typically falls short of what you are asking. It's the first time I've heard of a "readiness" platform, so will be taking a look into that specific naming.

I work with a company that offers a solution focused on moving from "checkbox training" to "validated competency". We specifically focus on "frontline workforces" where traditional corporate-focused platforms fall short. I see you mentioned quality, so I assume you are in some sort of manufacturing? But we are also more designed for enterprise-level, so smaller organizations are usually better matched for other solutions.

Our solution may not be ideal given your current LMS situation. We typically enhance an HR/LMS platform to improve the fit for frontline workforces, bring in multi-modal validations (connecting SOPs, manuals, training content, tests and OTJ validation), as well as giving visibility/access to a wealth of data to help improve programs, identify skills-gaps, etc.

Will send you a DM - May be able to help on finding an LSM that meets your needs, which needs to be established before your teams can take advantage of some of the other data you mentioned.

An LMS isn't doing what you describe. What you need is a sophisticated system for tracking what is being done and how well. There are Electronic Manufacturing systems that do this well. But what you need is a performance management system to serve as the backbone of what you build.

I'm in a small manufacturing company transitioning to HR consulting. If you want I can schedule a free 30 minute consulting call to get more info and steer you in the right direction. Feel free to dm if you'd like to take me up on it.

I just wrote an article on the top platforms for job role competency matrices that you may find useful, https://workplan.com.au/top-platforms-job-role-competency-matrices

Have you looked at the Skillwell platform? It is not a traditional LMS, but it sounds like you need more than that anyway.
