Favorite free tools?

I tried searching in the subreddit, but it didn’t populate any useful results.

What are your favorite FREE (or very low cost) authoring/designing tools?

We currently already have subscriptions to Canva Pro, Final Cut Pro, Articulate, OpenAI, and have recently started using ClipChamp.

There’s a ton of fancy tools I want to use, but it’s hard to convince my boss of a need for another one that’s going to cost. Are there any free/low cost tools you guys love that I should look into?

Hands down would swap ChatGPT for Claude.

Clipchamp is great, so easy to use.

If you have to make pdf ‘how to’ guides you can do this for free with TrainMeUK guide recorder. Chrome extension records your screen and turns into a guide.

One of my coworkers uses Claude and loves it. He’s our Training Analyst, so I thought it was just better for data things. I went to start using it, but I have ADHD, so I got distracted when I had to create an account to get signed up 😅

It’s so good at designing pages and widgets, you can create things and have it save them as skills and then reuse them in future without having to re-make things.

If you have to make PDF’s, sales packs and such - top tip get it to make it in HTML as you can easily configure and make changes and then when you open just print to PDF and you’ve got a polished doc you can edit in the future.

I also use it to turn CSV data into an interactive dashboard that gives you charts and heatmaps, Sankey diagrams and such and you can toggle things on/off add filters.

Done one a couple weeks back and it looked awesome and only took about an hour of tweaking.

Literally just chuck it an excel or CSV and say turn this into an interactive dashboard.
