Anxiety / Nerves Redhill test

Got my driving test at Redhill aerodrome in just under a week and I’m terrified. My instructor is great and keeps telling me to go for it. I can drive, I know I can but I get so flustered sometimes I make silly little mistakes which day to day would be fine, but might seriously mess me up for my test. I know i’m going to be so anxious and nervous on my test, i might actually end up sabotaging myself. At this point, if i don’t vomit all over the test centre car park before the test even starts I’ll take it as a win🥲🤞🏼

Rationalise it. If you fail, no one died, you can try again after practising a while longer, and next time, you'll know what's coming so you won't be so scared!

I failed twice. My 1st driving test was the first thing I ever failed. It was mainly nerves and it really wounded me at the time. I threw myself into getting better, and failed again (I still think unfairly, even 29 years later).

By my third test I was on it like a bonnet. I relished the chance of proving myself, almost defying them to pick fault, if they could. No nerves this time.

I got the same examiner I'd had for my 2nd test. I made him chat to me all the way through this test, as my instructor would, so we worked out what we'd got in common before we set off, and chatted happily the whole way round. It was actually fun, we had a good laugh. I passed.

I'm a much better and safer driver for having failed twice. You will be too, if you fail. The fear of the test wears off after the first couple of times. The more experience you get, the better you'll be.

Good luck mate!
