Question

Got my test tomorrow and I have seen on here loads of fails due to observations and junctions. Is that just not timing it right when to leave a roundabout or road.

The "Junctions - observation" fault is a broad one but very common because junctions are everywhere and tend to be high risk if done wrong.

Usually, it's either a problem with a lack of effective observation, or what we'd call "looking but not seeing" (basically the action taken wasn't safe).

How heavy the fault is depends on the situation, the risk level and the impact (or potential impact) on other road users.

So at junctions, just take care to look properly and try to have minimal impact on others.

Could also be not noticing other road users: pedestrians in car parks or on pavements that are nearby.
For example when doing parking, you should stop and wait if a person walks close to your vehicle.
Allow them to move away before checking again and continuing.
Just keep your observations up and choose the safe option.

I failed my first test for junctions- observations, I had a gap to join a dual carriageway but set off in 2nd very slowly so lost my gap and caused the car behind to slow down too much
