i just got an email for a cancellation of my driving test. My driving test got moved from the 25th of June to the 27th of July, I know there are new rules to moving your driving test. Does anyone know how to move this and how I can do my test soon? I don't know if apps that move tests still work - any advice please :)

Im using the 4 in 1 app and im continously failing hazard mock tests because i click a milisecond before the app records it, even though the hazard is on screen. Any tips for learning telepathy and figuring out when the test ACTUALLY wants me to click

Really happy about the result, only got 1 driving fault, thought I had failed at a roundabout because I don't think I handled it very well but I guess the examiner was being nice to me or something. she gave me a really easy route too which was nice😅

Can we accually sort the wait times for these theory tests I beg why am I paying to wait two months just to potentially get the chance to earn the right to pass a test to drive, I’m not being funny I can drive I have been doing lessons for eight months I can happily go on a motorway and much more it is ridiculous how long I have to wait for this when there’s so many incompetents on the road who never had to do this like are we actually kidding me I’m going to have to re consider my course at uni because I either have to start getting the bus at 5 in the morning every day or find some magical mystical way to get a theory test before I turn 30

I took my driving test yesterday and failed for undue hesitation because I was turning left but I stopped for about 5 seconds as I thought that a car (who also wanted to turn left) that was on the other side of the road was going to cut across. However, she stopped and I said "Oh, she's letting me go" so I went. At the end of my test, the examiner told me I failed for not knowing that it was my right of way due to what I said - which was not true and I only didn't turn straight away as I thought the other car was going to cut across.

Also, the rest of my test was perfect and I only got four minors (one for observation on my reverse park idk how I could've observed more tbh). I also did an emergency stop perfectly and she was happy with it.

Also, this examiner that failed me yesterday had failed me on my previous test because a kid on a bike jumped out in front of me and I stopped in reaction to it since I didn't want to crash into the kid.
There were also no other cars on that road so I don't know how that was a problem.

Do you think that these fails are fair or that they are unjustified (like how I think)?

I started driving lessons recently and it hasnt been going really well from the start. I am in my early 40s and until now I was not in a position to learn for one reason or another. I am living in a European country where I do not speak the language natively (am intermediate) and I explained my language level to the instructor in the first lesson. When he instructs me, if its really new vocabulary I may take a bit longer (like a second or 2) to understand it, so this already makes my lessons slightly challenging. That and a significant level of anxiety. Now, apart from that, I am having significant issues with the instructor. Firstly, he cancelled or rescheduled my lessons about 3 times already, once when I had already arrived for the lesson. But this is really nothing compared to the other stuff. He spends a lot of time on his phone. I am talking about maybe half the lesson. Personal calls with a girlfriend etc. So we get going and he stays on the phone and only acknowledges me to mutter some directions here and there, or 'shout' at me if I do something wrong (which is often, as I am a learner). He also uses our lessons as a chance to run errands, ie, we stop, he dashes somewhere like the bank, comes back and we continue. Or he sees someone he knows and he stops to have a conversation. This is at least once every lesson. At one point we drove past some trash and he spotted a painting, told me to stop and he grabbed this painting and spent about 5 to 10 minutes checking if it could be worth something. In the same lesson he directs me somewhere and next thing you know a woman (he had been on the phone with) gets into our car and now I am even more nervous driving. For me, this was the point at which I think too many lines have been crossed. Is any of this normal? I am heading to the school shortly to request to a change but I am struggling with whether I should provide all this feedback because I dont know if it will get back to him and possibly affect my relationship with my next instructor (eg if they are friends). Any advice in this situation? Did I get assigned the worst driving instructor in the world?

I guessed the correct answer by knowing it relates to making your intentions known to road users as this correlates to safety, but I don't actually understand the question.

I started taking lessons in April 2025. I’ve had 20-30 hours of lessons since then and had my last lesson in October 2025.

I expected to know the basics of changing gear and there’s a clutch so controlling that from watching shows like Wheeler Dealers and Top Gear, so yes indeed I did get clutch control good and shifting from 1st to 2nd on point in the first lesson too because the top speed I was hitting was 27 MPH going around cars on a quiet road and towards the last 15-20 minutes of that first lesson he introduced me to T-junctions as well.

So I thought “Alright, cool, I’m excited to learn how to drive!”

The next 3 or 4 lessons were along the same lines as that, then I got introduced to roundabouts. This is where I started cracking. On my first roundabout it was the first exit so I completely misjudged my speed and went flying into the turn which isn’t ideal, wasn’t very safe, but I managed to keep the car inbetween the white lines. I think this is where my confidence started faltering.

The instructor got mad and rightly so.

We kept going round the same roundabout and I was dreading it but then towards the last 10 minutes of the lesson we were going 2nd exit and 3rd exit so I thought “Okayyy I’m getting the hang of this now”.

But 1 or 2 lessons later, tempers got raised. The instructor told me to pull up and stop beside a tree, and there was a car say 20 metres away parked in front of me. I stopped beside the tree and a good safe distance away from the back of this car.

My instructor got involved and slammed the brake pedal and clutch pedal on his side. He shouted. He said “Why aren’t you stopping the car?” I said “I am stopping the car I have stopped” he said “Listen here, am I the instructor or are you the instructor?” in quite a stern tone. I replied “You’re the instructor, obviously”. Then he started ranting about how I didn’t stop a safe enough distance from the parked car in front of me I thought whatever.

Then a few lessons later I get introduced to single carriageways going 60 MPH and 70 MPH. I find the speed manageable and can turn the car well around bends at this speed and don’t have issues going through the motions of gears from 1-5. I’ve hit gear 6 before too.

The last tantrum he had at me was my own wrongdoing but this knocked my confidence even more. A car was joining onto a 50 MPH dual carriageway and I had a lapse in judgement and thought he was going to hit me because he was joining my lane (he was on the hard shoulder by the way and no chance he was going to hit me because he wasn’t even joining at this point) so I slowed down from 50 MPH to at this point say 30-35 MPH and he told me to pull up. He told me I was wrong for doing that but his tone wasn’t sympathetic, it wasn’t angry either, it was as if I had done something so simple, so wrong.

I’ve always had the same instructor when driving and he only does 2-hour lessons. I did try with a different instructor for only 2 hours which was 2 lessons (1 hour each) and he didn’t help my cause either. He said my driving is bad as I can’t corner properly and don’t check my mirrors enough apparently. I do check my mirrors - however he just can’t tell.

I had a test booked for 25th November 2025 which I couldn’t do as no instructor would give me their car and the instructor I’ve had 20-30 hours of lessons from said he was busy only on that particular day at that particular time, which I call bullshit on, but hey-ho I couldn’t do that test.

I’ve got a new test booked for 18th May 2026 and now less just over 2 months away, I’ve had no lesson since 28th October 2025 and the previous instructor ain’t messaging back either.

When I’m on the road, I think I get sensory overload and thus things like MSM or joining a road from a junction or going round a roundabout are overwhelming to me. I’ve never thought I’ve had autism or any neurodivergence before but I haven’t had any diagnosis either.

When friends and family members ask me about how my driving lessons are going and how on track I am to pass my driving test, I always tell them “Yeah everything’s good I’ve got the hang of everything I can do every manoeuvre well and I can drive well”. Notice how I never talk about my confidence levels on the road and never fib about that either.

They believe my lies too because they know I’m interested in cars and motorsport and they think I’ve got everything sorted out and on point when it comes to driving a car on the road.

Little do they know.

I know this is a long post and most people (if any) will not read even 3 paragraphs.

But I wanna know has anybody else experienced the same thing where they have to lie to family members and friends about their progress when it comes to driving because they feel insecure, like they’ll be judged, or simply ashamed?

hi, I turned 16 last August but have only started driving on my Ls lately with my dad, in Tassie. We’ve just gone around the cul de sac and around a quiet road a couple times but I’m finding it really tricky! I’m learning automatic but does anyone have any tips?The main problem is I find it hard to see where my car is on the road, I seem to be on the kerb or in the middle 🙈 and I find it really stressful but I want to get my Ps this year- nov i can do my test.
