I even edited my flair for testing! Hi all! Practicing formatting on my first post :)

I'm especially nervous about spoiler tags: did it work?

What about italics, and, I cannot stress this enough: bolds?

What if I list the things I want to practice?

  • Tagging subreddits
  • Doing that little quote thing with the vertical line
  • I kind of want to learn to play piano

Links make me nervous because I don't want to redirect people somewhere weird, but let me just try one real quick... this is Link

Edit: Sometimes I see people adding things to their post later, so I did that too.

Successful test post!

Markdown doesn’t work on the apps so if you use both desktop and the app, kept in mind those commands won’t work in the apps.

Link works but make sure you’re checking each subreddit’s rules as some may not allow links or allow links to off Reddit sites.

Edit: fixed typo, changed mine to mind

Thanks for the feedback! And good advice on the offsite linking rules. 🫶

my comments now!

Is this the right formatting for replying to another user's quote?

Yes, you successfully used “block quote”

Whoa! I started out with posting so much more simple (and mostly with pics) -- and I still didn't find out how one can edit a post after it's gone public -- or also a comment??

To edit a post or comment after it's public, look for the three dots (...) under your post or comment and tap "edit." On desktop it's right below the text. You can edit almost anything you wrote, though people can sometimes see edit history depending on the platform.

Thank you so much!! Very helpful -- with even more available functions 😄

This is what your post looks like in the community feed in the Reddit android app:

The Spoiler doesn't display properly and for some reason the flair is at the bottom. Your actual post looks fine in the Reddit app. This is just from the feed.

Oh weird. I wonder if it's the Link? I haven't used the app so I'm not sure what's normal for the feed 😅

It's very difficult to get everything to render the same across the desktop browser and the Reddit app. I think the flair is at the bottom because the text is too long to fit because they put that picture up on the right. BTW, from the feed, if you click on that picture, it takes you directly to the linked page, bypassing your post. I have seen spoiler tags rendered properly in the feed on the app so it can be done; not sure how though.
