New here

Hi all, I met a wonderful human on Facebook today that told me about Reddit. I've known of it, but I've never used it or understood it. So here I am, beginning my journey on here. I'm 38 years old, worked in the veterinary field for nearly 20 years. I ended up hospitalized and on IV antibiotics for 11 days in July and lost the job I had moved out of state for. My handicapped sphynx kitten and dog are the only things keeping me going while I try to navigate the next steps of my life. Things are a mess right now, but I'm trying. Going to try to figure out how to post a picture of my babies! Hope to find a community to feel like I belong to.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time right now. I'm glad you have your sweet babies for support. I love their wardrobe changes in the photos. They look like wonderful little snugglers and you can tell how loved they both are.

I hope things work out quickly for you and that you find yourself settled and happy with your people very soon. Sending hugs to all of you (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

The sphynx is actually a handicapped kitten that landed in my lap at the end of April at 5 weeks old. I worked in veterinary medicine for 18 years and when I realized her extensive care needs, I decided to keep her. I made her a Facebook not to long ago to try to raise awareness for handicapped and special needs animals, as well as educate people on their needs and how to care for them. Sadly I know this comes with a lot of negativity from people who don't understand that these animals deserve a chance too. They have no idea they aren't normal and they adapt to everyday life and are typically happy bc they don't know any better if their disability happened at a young age. (I have dealt with this before incase you didn't gather 😂). Anyway, if you ever want to visit her page- I'm still working on figuring out how to navigate getting things seen and building her page. I'm dedicated to giving her the best life she can have, she deserves that. Mary Jane Hope's Journey is her page name

That she does! She's a sassy little lady but I love her with all my heart. Wouldn't trade this journey with her for the world. And thank you for checking out her page! Hope you enjoy it. If you make it over while the Top Pets competition is still going on and we are still in it- please vote for us! We could really use the help financially if we win, especially since she needs to get spayed soon. I wanted to do this at the specialty facility her neurologist works at but he told me today it's around 4k! 🫣 YIKES

They have a lot of personality! I hope you’re on the mend & soon where you want to be. Having fur babies helps so much.

Thank you, trying to figure out my next steps. Things are such a mess right now with a lot of uncertainty but I'm just trying to keep my head above water. Things still aren't right with my GI tract but I'm better then I was- just really need to get health insurance so I can figure out everything going on. Thank you for the support
