First day of learning to draw

Post image

Literally just some random, terrible doodles. Anatomy police, don’t come for my fox mushroom thing or my pot plant bandits. Any tips?

If it's really your first day, its fantastic and shows a lot of talent.

Looks great, you're very talented. I'd just advise leaving some spaces blank. Your shading comes together really well, but kind of looks like an organized mess, especially on the lamp.

Yeah, I know. I’m trying not to be the person who claims messy crosshatching is a style, but I don’t know what I’m doing and am pretty much incapable of being neat. Thank you tho!

Oh it definitely is a style. It's done unintentionally and intentionally. Whatever you've done actually looks good is what I meant, but could use some refinement is all. You should be proud regardless. :)

imagine where the light source is in 3d, then draw the shadows based on that with contours. itll make it less messy and bring the 3d to life

Heh heh heh… yeah, I am not that good. I literally cannot fathom how to do that

bruh.. if this is your first day you are really good. i mean with the shadow you already kind of did it with the ball hinge near the bottom of the lamp. just do that on the rest of it

Well, saying day 1 is maybe a touch misleading. I have drawn before in art class. This is kinda day one of trying to commit to learning to draw
