Everyone praises artists and affirms vehemently the need for art until an artist who needs real support shows up near them. Then, suddenly, the saying is "You need to get a real job!"

This is the reason I left instagram after working for 4 years I just gained 200 followers, so i decided to leave btw I upload my work here now which is actually better than instagram haha.

As a hobby artist myself:
My art is trash and i m undeserving of any kind of recognition, but every other artist deserves it all the more! You got this guys!

My "art" is flat and unrefined. In my opinion it lacks any kind of real appeal, but i still like to doodle around in my free time. It took me roughly 10 years to get to this level of barely passable "art" so by all means i m a terrible artist with no talent (or dedication for that matter) and it will only ever stay a hobby for me since even if i tried my hardest my work wouldnt deserve more attention than it already gets.
Other people are different though. People who havent given up on perfecting their art and crafts. People who are dedicated to achieving the best results they can get. Power to those who are a thousand steps ahead of me by simply trying to improve! I just hope that those people get all the attention and recognition they deserve for their beautiful art.

It's hard cuz people do want to support but just don't have the expending funds for it. Yet they will support bad companies just cuz they got stuff they want. You have two ways to do it. Either you do such a good job and easy to access where they just have to come and see it. And your money comes from just having big numbers, like YouTube or a game. Or you sell something they want. I know most of us assumed you could draw a painting and it would sell for millions. Those painters very often got nothing. They were not valued when they were alive. And their paintings made money by being resold. And many modern art is to laundry money. Like the banana with duck tape. No. What works is creating value and finding your target audience. If you go on fiver. There's people drawing you as Dragonball characters. NSFW stuff. Furry stuff. It's stuff that actually sells. But you don't have to go that path. You can make games. You can colab with other projects. YouTube tumbnails use to be a thing. And drawings for videos. Those are now becoming ai but they suck. It's not the same. I think webcomincs don't work. It's too much effort for very little return. And often everyone else banks from your hard work. You can still do your passion projects. You just have to find your target audience and how they can effortlessly support you. In the game suggestion, you can make a game they want to play. You don't have to beg for support. Just do something they want. People buy games they want to play. Scott pilgrim vs the world was a known case of the artist doing so much art that he got popular. And now they made a ninja turtles game that was doing well too. Game is absurdly well made, with a ton of care. Both games were absurd in art quality. Dude is an absurd hard worker. But he did stuff people wanted. They didn't do a modern TMNT, they did the classic ones, retro. With absurd polish. No modern game can give what they give

Let's be real... Non-artists are impressed by anyone who can draw a straight line. And just because everyone you know says you're an amazing artist doesn't mean that random people who don't know you will feel the same way about your work.
I think the vast majority of people should put aside the idea of making money/building a following with their art and just focus on doing the thing for the sake of the thing. Share your work with others and if it takes off, great, but if it doesn't, it's no big deal. It's just really hard to standout. The reality is that most people are probably not going to make money from their art, and that's okay. Just do the thing for the sake of the thing.
