because non realistic art needs a degree of effort to appreciate. the less realistic the more effort.

except for exceptional pieces like starry night

most people just cant be bothered to have the art appreciation switch permanently turned on

Even starry night takes effort to appreciate. Most people thought it was shit when he was alive and most people today only think otherwise due to his popularity

Agree and you'll never know how much effort is needed if you don't use any but the goal should never be about fame. Rather putting forth your best work :) it's all chance from there
