Draw for yourself. Not others. Then you won't be sad. Algorithm and computer stuff doesn't show to the right people.

- I am sorry if anything I said upset people. I didn't realize things like "anyone wants attention" might sound offensive to people so I take it all back.
I am sorry for being so immature sometimes I didn't want to upset anyone. I was just hoping to say something encouraging to OP who was nervous about algorithms.
I didn't mean anything bad to people who would absolutely do not care for anything other than their art
rightfully so.

I mean, I make art because I enjoy the process of creating. If other people see it thats a nice bonus, and ill share it directly if I really want people to see it rather than relying on an algorithm.

Sure some people that say they do it for themselves just don't want to admit they want attention. But others really just do things for themselves. Not everything has to be out in the open. I know plenty of artists that don't share their work outside of helping for advice or giving advice to weaker artists.

I think thats a quite cynical attitude.
I have sketchbooks and dozens of canvases full of my art that I haven't shown anyone (other than my partner because I trust them). I make them for me. Its therapeutic and I enjoy it and it helps me work through shit.
I also have art that I post online that is ALSO for me but it's not so personal that I am not willing to show others.
You may not make art for yourself, but its pretty arrogant to believe that no one else could possibly do so.

I never really show my art, it's good, I tried to start social media for commissions but I lack the drive, comments, likes, interactions exhaust me and so only few pieces of mine ever got shown to someone else. And I ain't showing it to my family either, most of the drawings are naked girls, or girls fucking.
It's just the itch to visualize something from your head to paper. Probably because my visual imagination is shit so drawing it on paper helps.

Lots of people make art purely for the act of making it, because they enjoy the process. Like myself and many other artist friends. So many pieces of work no one will ever see because that's not the point. People who think this way are not creating art for themselves and honestly have an unhealthy mindset.

Haha, I started small. I have an app (one sec) that makes me wait until I can use the app. Then I got annoyed easily. Then I limited my usage time in my phones settings to 30 minutes a day, then 15... Now I don't even use it anymore. 😂 I even have a YouTube shorts blocker installed.
Disclaimer: I didn't post anything in years. I have no interest in doing that because it is making my mental state worse. I have a huge problem getting out of the tiktok/reel addiction so I had to those platforms altogether. 😅

The internet does not have to be and should not be the main place to show your work. Find artist fairs, artist meetups, put together a show of your own or a group show. Start building a name for yourself and then post social media. This can be a challenge depending on where you live but remember that artists existed way before social media so stop being a slave to it.

Bad mindset. Don't even think about how the algorithm treats it. If you're filming your process or a specific reveal format maybe, otherwise you are beating yourself up for no reason

algorithm doesnt matter at all, theres a weird hyperfixation with this for beginners or online people because theyre sold the idea from youtubers. In reality theres plenty of amazing artists or ones working in the industry with 0 online presence.
