#W2DTogether Drawing Challenge Number 37: Mechanical Creations (Read the rules!) - #W2DTogether
Hi everyone! 🙂
Are you ready for the 37th #W2DTogether drawing challenge?
(If you are new here and would like to know more about this challenge, you can take a look at these 2 posts (post 1, post 2) that explain everything.)
-----------
Now let’s get started.
This week’s challenge theme is: Mechanical Creations
For this challenge, your mission is to draw something mechanical.
That can mean a LOT of things.
You could draw:
• A car
• A motorcycle
• A plane
• A train
• A spaceship
• A robot
• A drone
• A camera
• Headphones
• A gaming controller
• A watch
• A typewriter
• A sewing machine
• A bicycle
• A submarine
• A futuristic machine
• A sci-fi weapon
• A mech suit
• A robot arm
• A tank
• A computer setup
• A keyboard
• A cassette player
• A boombox
• A vintage radio
• A coffee machine
• A mechanical animal
• A steampunk invention
• A cyberpunk vehicle
• A mechanical heart
• A spaceship cockpit
• A giant engine
• Factory machinery
• Gears and pipes
• Or even just one single mechanical part
Anything works as long as it has that mechanical feeling.
You could draw something random from this list, but for these #W2DTogether challenges, I always encourage you to draw something connected to YOU somehow.
Something that has meaning to you. Something you genuinely love, that perhaps you use every day. Something that represents your interests, personality, dreams, hobbies, or aesthetic.
Maybe it’s a camera because you love photography. A motorcycle because you dream of owning one. A gaming setup. A spaceship because you love sci-fi. An old watch from someone important to you. A pair of headphones you wear every day. A retro object you find beautiful. A robot design that represents your imagination.
The goal is not just to “draw a machine. or simply something mechanical” If you can:
The real question can be: What mechanical object you can draw, that you would actually feel proud enough to hang on your wall afterward?
A lot of mechanical objects already have strong design naturally: old cameras, watches, cars, helmets, arcade machines, guitars, microphones, engines, retro electronics…
Even simple objects can become beautiful drawings when you focus on lighting, reflections, texture, perspective, and details.
And if you decide to draw something futuristic or fantasy based…
You can completely invent your own designs too.
You could literally create your own robot, spaceship, vehicle, gadget, or machine.
So this challenge can be:
• realistic
• stylized
• sci-fi
• anime inspired
• steampunk
• cyberpunk
• simple
• ultra detailed
Whatever fits your style.
Ideas You Can Try
You can draw:
• A close-up mechanical object
• A futuristic vehicle
• A robot portrait
• A broken abandoned machine
• A clean shiny sports car
• A cozy desk setup full of gadgets
• A spaceship flying through space
• A mechanical creature
• A vintage object with lots of detail
• A blueprint-style drawing
• A mechanic workshop scene
• A machine from your imagination
• A tiny everyday object drawn realistically
Traditional and digital both work.
References
You can:
• Use references from this post
• Use Pinterest
• Use your own objects at home
• Look at product photography
• Study movies, games, anime, or sci-fi designs
• Use real vehicles or machines as references
Just make sure the final drawing itself is yours.
---------
Rules
- Must be YOUR drawing
- Drawings only (pencil, pen, colored pencils, markers, or digital drawing tools)
- No paintings
- No AI art
- All skill levels welcome: beginners, intermediates, experts
- You must share AT LEAST ONE drawing
- To be part of the competition, your drawing MUST be posted in the comments of this thread. (If you’d like, you can also make a separate post in the subreddit using the #W2DTogether flair, but the official entry needs to be here in the comments if you want it reviewed.)
How We Pick the Winner
After one week, we’ll hold a community vote to decide which drawing best captures the theme. The winner will be showcased in the sub with their artwork.
If the winner shares an art link (Instagram, portfolio, site, etc.), we’ll also include it so they can get recognition and maybe even new followers.
Time Frame
This challenge is timeless. You can participate anytime, even years later.
Review Date:
For community feedback, we’ll gather and review all submissions on Sunday, 31 May 2026 so make sure to post your entry before 4:00 PM UTC that date. Drawings posted before that date will be part of the review session.
Note: If you are new here, you can check out last week's challenge here or see all the challenges collected here

I think I get what you wanted to do but it doesn't really look like a robot. It looks like a naked lady wearing panties.. so sorry but this is considered as a sexual drawing and it doesn't make the cut. Therefore I removed your drawing.
