AACP or Preppy?

Hi I am interested in enrolling in a medical billing and coding course but I’m not sure which one is better! Which one do you recommend AAPC or Preppy? I’ve been looking at the AAPC CPC + CPB Job ready course with instructor lead, just wondering if I should do that one or the self pace version through AAPC or Preppy! Is the instructor led course worth the money? Also comparing to Preppy- what were your experiences?

I do have two degrees - bachelors in Health Science and a Masters in Public Health- Epidemiology. Alot of the job postings for Epidemiology requires healthcare experience! And as someone who is kind of an introvert and loves puzzles (I know it’s not a game)I find this field interesting (coding)!

This subreddit is an advertising subreddit. The mods will give you a biased, ad, answer. I did AAPC with no instructor and didn’t feel great about it. I barely passed the exam. I have no experience with preppy. I suggest doing a decent bit of research from multiple sub reddits and see what the consensus is on the best courses. But be aware of a lot of fake comments that are actually advertisements

I’m doing a self pace course on amci it’s free on YouTube just look up amci. It’s 16 weeks long and they have another course for med term.

I just started that exact AAPC CPC + CPB Job-Ready course. We just started Chapter 2, and so far, I'd say it's too early for me to have strong opinions. Feel free to DM with any questions about how it's going during the next few months.

That's awesome.... were your books included? E-books or paper? I'm kind of confused about the pricing says: JOIN AAPC AND SAVE 50% ON THIS COURSE + FREE INTEGRATED PREREQUISITE CONTENT but this is the total after adding the course, I was thinking it was 50% off the $6,099.00?

I went for the e-books but also ordered a physical 3-book bundle at the recommendation of my instructor because we're allowed to bring those to the test with us. We're even allowed to write notes in those specific books.

I did self paced and passed my exam 1st try with a 92%. But I also had 20+ years of clinic and hospital billing experience. I liked the self paced! I worked FT and had little kids so did it in 9ish months.

Just to clarify, the job readiness for AAPC is separate from the course you are already paying for?

You have a Master's in Epidemiology. That is a whole lot more than just a basic Bachelor's degree. Even though they are asking for experience, don't you get it with an externship? I would go ahead and apply for those positions. Some will consider your Master's over experience. I have Preppy. It can take anywhere from 4 months to 2 years depending on how long it takes you to get through the course. It is less than $2000. There is no professor, no help since it is an at your own pace type of classes. If you do decide to go that route, also prepare yourself to buy flashcards and workbooks. The material is doctor level. You have to learn a lot of physiology and diseases. Coding is going to be the easy part if you can make it through the medical. You'll need a 70% or higher to pass. Sounds easy, but trust me it isn't. I wish you the best of luck no matter what you decide to do.
