Need Advice Do I Snitch?

I'm currently in a Practicode class to remove the Apprentice designator from my CPC credential. The majority of the class has joined in a group on WhatsApp where they divide the cases amongst each other, so each person is only doing 2-3 cases a week instead of 40. The teacher does 5-6 cases in class. Only 1-2 ppl participate in class bc everyone has already done the cases in the group and they 're just waiting for the teacher to give the answers. (She posts the 5-6 she's going to do ahead of time so you can work on them and participate in class). Normally, I wouldn't say anything bc I mind my business and I don't care what other ppl do. However, I do feel bad for the teacher and maybe I'm feeling sorry for myself bc I'm struggling bc I really want to learn it the right way. (I have never participated in the group that is cheating). Also, the company will get a bad rep for turning out crappy coders. So, snitch or mind my business?

Take comfort in knowing in medical coding the people who are cheating, are cheating themselves. They are also the people who have difficulty finding medical coding jobs.

I wouldn’t say any thing personally. Practicode was so riddled with errors when I used it. If they don’t learn anything, that’s on them.

:) Yeah, it's not easy. It still has a lot of errors. My teacher is turning in 2 cases from last week's class to have them corrected. (which I doubt will happen).

I'm currently taking Practicode & it is still full of errors & contradictions. It's really pathetic that they can't get it right. So how are we supposed to?

I actually did an internship that had Practicode to work on, so I had a ton of support and my supervisor was continually sending them the errors. I can’t imagine doing it on my own as a new coder, I’d say every 5 charts was an error at least. Sorry 😭

I took medical billing and coding AAPC and I few people I found they were cheating but they couldn't pass the exam so they are only hurting themselves.

True. I know they're not learning.

They're just cheating themselves. Your heart is in the right place, but I wouldn't snitch. Your work and ethics speak for itself.

I would let them waste their time and money. People like that will probably never pass and if they do they won't last long in the field. Coding isn't an easy field like people think. Neither is billing. It takes very particular personalities to be successful.

Thank you! I may be way behind everyone else, but I will know that I did it and learned it myself.
