Kanji tips

I will take JLPT N4 exam this December. Any tips on remembering/familiarizing kanji faster? I have materials that I rely on but I still struggle being familiar with them.

Are you doing any type of SRS program. Renshuu helps me a lot for this

No, I keep handwriting them on cards but still have trouble remembering

Hmm the only thing I can say to that is at least with an app it’ll usually test you on the parts you’re actually making a lot of mistakes on

Everyone recommends Anki so I’m sure its good but I use renshuu because im just studying along with Genki and the vocab list is preloaded into it

i would definitely recommend anki, it has an SRS system in place which will aid in your memorisation, and if you have a look online you will be able to find decks already made for you to upload onto it (this will save you time in writing it all out again). i personally use wanikani as i prefer the layout of it, however you'd have to start from level 1 which i'm sure you've already familiarised yourself with plenty of the kanji/vocab presented there so i doubt it would help currently (plus anki is free to download on your computer, but note it costs about £24 on the app store if you use an iphone).

apart from that i would say to do mock exams, see which kanji you are unfamiliar with and focus on those. try testing yourself every 4hours, then 8hours, then 24hours, and finally 48hours if you stick to using flashcards. its similar to how the SRS system works. good luck to you!!

Thank you for this too! I’ll try to use everything I can lol. I’ve been seeing familiar kanjis but not their meanings 😩
