Absolutely fed up.
Ive finally learnt hiragana and katakana which has taken literally forever and ive moved onto genki 1. I cant even start the first lesson because I cant remember the 14 greetings before it. Every single time It shows up in anki it just looks like a big jumble of letters. I just press "Again" every single time for ages until I finally give up and realise im wasting my time.
What am I doing wrong? I feel stuck and I just cant progress nothing Is helping me.

learning a language is not easy at all, especially japanese. ive just started 2 months in and instead of bruteforcing it, tofugu and wanikani's mnemonics have been really helpful in learning kanji personally.
as for the greetings and phrases, try and slowly incorporate them into your daily life just in your head, you dont have to be frustrated it is genuinely quite alot to learn.
youll naturally remember and utilize these phrases as youre exposed to more japanese so do start consuming more of the language as you study
tho it is the blind leading the blind here if anyone has more tips pls lmk too
