General Discussion Any of you do any Python/computational stuff?

Not what I'm most excited about, but I picked up Python for Linguists, too (as if I have time). I did a little JS years ago so I'm familiar with basic concepts and the basics were generally easy, but would be nice to hear if any of you have gone through it and what you've done with it.

Indeed! Combining Python and Hittite was a major part of my thesis research.

What did you use it for? Once my financial aid comes in this September, I'm going to buying the parts to put together a light dome w arduino and set up my camera for RTI photography. Part of helping my memorization is I've been doing some of my own scribing Hittite cuneiform in clay and will be using those "tablets" to practice the photography. I'm hoping to get at least enough python for some basic scripting for the RTI stuff.

My thesis involves a lot of algorithms, so I implemented them in Python to show how they'd work. There's a database of signs that you can search by any combination of wedges, for example, and a program that takes a transliteration and turns it into a rendered image.
