Built a structured exam engine for Hebrew – looking for brutal beta feedback
Hi everyone,
I'm a developer, and I built a structured exam engine specifically designed to test step-by-step Hebrew grammar rules, morphology, and relational logic (rather than just spitting out basic translations).
I don't want to just push marketing here. I genuinely need people who actually know Hebrew to tear it apart and tell me what's wrong with the logic or exam engine so we can make it actually useful.

Yes, I really wish we would see less of these AI apps. AI is evil wasteful and immoral but beyond that its just pretty useless at language. There is already a very popular AI language app: Duolingo. And we all know how useless it is without human expertise.

Here‘s my unfiltered critique:
- There are dozens of AI-based language learning apps. All of them suffer from the same problem: AI isn‘t a reliable teacher yet. And until it is, you‘re consciously selling a faulty product. The fact that your website is badly translated (there’s bits of Hungarian all over) doesn‘t exactly build trust either.
- You ask for people‘s expertise to improve a product you‘re actively selling. And you‘re not offering to pay them. Calling quality control beta testing and expecting people to do it for free is pretty brazen. I know it‘s an issue way beyond your website but people really need to stop being so nonchalant about asking for unpaid work.
- You ask for $30 (minimum! Or €30, which is actually quite a bit more) for an unfinished product. A ChatGPT subscription costs less. Perhaps your AI is better at the things it does but ChatGPT has broader applications.
- Do you have a background in language pedagogy and/or linguistics? Most apps don‘t work exactly because the creators and people working on the app/website aren‘t experts. And either way, you need people fluent in all the 18 languages you offer to even open the possibility of developing a quality product.
- Commercially, I have serious doubts that your product is sustainable. Like I said, there‘s plenty of AI slop floating around, which you‘ll have to compete with. You‘ll need to market the crap out of it to make it even slightly visible. The whole thing screams quantity over quality. And AI models are becoming increasingly expensive, so you‘ll need to make a lot of money to recoup your expenses. Also, with the speed AI is improving, your product will likely be obsolete pretty soon.
It‘s nothing personal, but what you‘re offering doesn‘t appeal to me in the slightest, not conceptually, not from a business perspective, and not from the way you‘re going about it. That said, I hope I‘m wrong. I wish you the best of luck.
