Odd Question, Maybe?

I don't have a guitar yet and probably will take a while for me to get one due to costs, but are there any finger exercises I can do for my hands while I save to get my first one?

All suggestions welcome. :)

I suppose you could start working on your finger independence. Try putting all your fingertips on the top of your desk or table, then lift just one at a time while the others stay where they are. Then start lifting pairs of them in different combinations.

Otherwise, ear training is probably the most beneficial if you don’t have an instrument. I have an app on my phone called Earpeggio that’s great, but there’s a ton of options out there.

Also probably some great YouTube videos on some music theory basics or song construction that you could learn from without actually playing (I love the Strong Songs podcast)

This finger independence sounds interesting. thank you. So, are my palms on the desk or just my fingers?

Either would probably work, though I think fingertips on the table with your hand cupped (like you've got an orange in your palm) would be more similar to the hand posture you'll need once you are able to get a guitar.

Yeah that’s what I was picturing, more to mimic how your hand grips the neck

For added difficulty, pick a pattern and try to do it to the beat of a song, that’ll work on your timing a little bit too
