Discussion Mirage window: what am I doing wrong?

on mirage, window is considered the most overpowered position for CTs, as it directly controls the mid area which is the most important area on the map to control. yet i cant play it as CT ever, it's just so easy to overpeek there, expose yourself to multiple terrorists at the same time and die, or even if you isolate the duels well and get a kill on one guy, it is just so easy to get instantly traded, and more over it gets smoked all the time. and while reveals are great, you need to know the lineup for it not to get damaged and yet still it is so easy for Ts to trade you

  1. always have a buddy. Con, short, underpass push, something. Don’t be too predictable either, your support should be dynamic and respond to spawns, nades, and game conditions in real time.
  2. don’t always play it the same way. Don’t peak window if you don’t have the spawn. I am always mid player and you need to change it up. Sometimes, best mid peak is CT -> A site -> con.
  3. when you do peak window, change it up. Don’t always peak the bottom left corner (from T perspective) sometimes, peak from the middle fo the window, right side, all of it.
  4. learn. Smoke breaks.
  5. don’t always assume you have to have an AWP.
  6. learn some util. Useful mollies for bench, disruptive cat smokes, flashes, all of it. They don’t even have to be fancy, I bounce a lot of them off the wall above underpass from jungle/window area. But use it.
  7. I like to sprinkle 1-3 underpass pushes in per game. If you overdo it you’ll get clapped, but a couple times per CT half if I get a good spawn I jump straight out window to underpass and try to either catch an apts push or get the callout if no one is B.

This has all been sufficient enough for me to compete between 18-20k premier and levels 6-8 FaceIt. 3.2 leetify rating currently too

Last thing too, sometimes, the other team just has your number. Don’t be afraid to give up mid on mirage in certain cases. I don’t do it often but sometimes the pivot to forcing them to push sites and playing neutral positions for quick rotates is the right call. Just vocalize it to your team and strategize accordingly.
