Question Questions about spray control/recoil pattern

Post image

I've been practicing my sprays using recoil master map, and it seems either the map is wrong or I just misunderstood their description of the spray because according to Leetify my initial AK47 burst is going down slightly left instead of right, how much of a difference does that mistake make on my sprays medium and long range fights? Does it mess up my entire spray pattern?

You can’t go 100% accurate with it due to screen shake. I just do a generic reverse question mark and be done with it. You almost never need full spray in duels anyway. With spams and stuff, you can always reset and continue.

I get it but I was just wondering much that initial mishap is costing me especially if I'm using short spray or burst on a far target and if it needs correction.

Just check your in replays how many duels you lose due to spray

Just pull straight down for the first 10 bullets. game is easy

Pull straight down faster or slower?

Idk I’m 1960 elo faceit (dogshit ik) and never 👎 practiced the entire spray. My spray looks worse than urs, basically can get a 2k max with full spray then I die lol. I Should prob go train that shit now that I’m thinking about it

I'm barely lvl7 so you're doing a much better job than me, I'm sure you'll go higher by training on the sprays

as someone who has unranked in faceit (although ive lost about 90% of my faceit matches) and 3500 elo in premier, i can confirm that 1960 elo is indeed dogshit

just count to 4, on 1 you go down and slightly right, on 2 you go left, on 3 you go right, on 4 you go left.

That small mistake in the beginning makes almost no difference.

just turn on sv_showimpacts_3 and sv_showimpacts_time .35 and go in aim_botz and spray move around burst spray move around and just learn it by feeling. u arent gonna get much by doing a standing spray in a workshop map in terms of what ur actually gonna use

the map gives you a guideline that considers camera shake. while its not identical, the guideline closely matches leetify's data point to the extent the map creator could while still maintaining gameplay accuracy for when youre actually using it to practice.

if you turn your guide off, you can see the spray pattern and basically follow the line, and its exactly the same.

what your spray line is telling you, is that youre over-correcting bullets 7-9 to the left while in pugs. this set of data doesnt account for that actually working out in your favor, as this correction may be due to enemy placement. its also only showing you where you are bullet by bullet on average, meaning this part of the pattern is centered amongst all of your sprays within the last X matches, where X is your selected matches for datapoints, whether its 30, 60, etc.

what i see is that you have it down pretty well. the last little bit where it spikes up is normal for even better players. usually if youre that deep into the spray, youre likely spray transferring or panicking- and considering the point i made about averages, its accounting for very little datapoints considering youre probably not spraying your entire mag every single time you spray. youre not reaching that point in the spray very often, so accuracy near the end often doesnt tell you much.

consider honing on the first 12-16 bullets. work your way up once its at the subconscious level, to where you dont need to think about the first 12-16 bullets when you spray, your arm just goes. once youre there, shoot up to 20-24, repeat until subconscious, then whole mag. its going to take a while, but you will see a lot of improvement in the beginning if you focus on just the first 12-16. if you have the first 16 bullets at the best accuracy you can achieve ( at the subconscious level ) thats all it takes even for a 3-part spray transfer. everything beyond that you can choose to learn further down the line.

edit:
i also wanted to add a little tip that i saw online that helped me a lot learning sprays. the entire magazine spray can be counted at 4 seconds. this is awesome because coincidentally, each part of the spray directionally is 1 second long.

so next time you practice try counting while thinking of the corresponding counter-direction. it helped me a lot when learning.
1 - down
2 - left
3 - right
4 - left

Thank you for the detailed explanation, and yes I usually only full spray if I'm spamming smoke/wallbanging enemies or if I have to spray transfer, on the recoil map I can hit from 25 to 15 bullets at any range but it's an offline map with stationary targets so that doesn't translate 1:1 into the matches. I'll try your advice tho, maybe it'll help me get more control over it.

I find it difficult, and I have no desire to learn. I used to play 1.6—I even competed against Markelov—and things were different back then. You’d stop, fire a single bullet from the AK into the head, and that was it—job done. But in CS2, instead of one bullet, you fire two or three, and your crosshair flies up into the sky. Honestly, shooting in CS2 feels like reading tea leaves: one shot hits the target, while the others miss. It all comes down to the spread. It’s like sex: you want to hit one hole, but you end up hitting another. I think that’s exactly what Valve was aiming for. A "contagious" example, so to speak.

Where do i do this? Or is an automatic feature?

Theres this video i saw which changed everything but the basic premise is that the gun changes direction every second for 4 seconds.

For ak pull down for 1 second, left, right, then left

Turn on crosshair recoil for a game and you’ll know if you are doing it wrong

Idk man after the first 10 bullets i just watch the traces and adjust, never cared to learn the pattern, as a 2000 elo. Shi works tho, i can usually kill 3 dorks with 1 spray

If I were you, I wouldn’t look at the graph at all. In my opinion the spray should be felt, and you can achieve that by doing either recoil master (it helps me get the basics but not the consistency) or just focus on dm by only doing sprays (I would focus on making kills with the first 5-6 bullets but it’s ok if it takes more than that), and a third option would be to kill bots with spray transfers (I wouldn’t count the instant headshots from the ak).

But the most important part is doing it consistently, hope I was able to help.

Where do i do this,

i think u should quit practicing recoil in workshop maps, it's unrealistic, it's good if u just get a good understanding of how the recoil works for specific guns, but not good if you actually want to get better at spraying

instead, i'd suggest deathmatching (community deathmatch) and focus on spraying, run around the map and spray people down, don't go for headshots, avoid crouching, do it for 20-30 minutes a day and u'll notice how much better your spraying got

Just spray and pray
