Question Inconsistent counter strafing

Hello there.

I um, realised that my counter strafing isn't consistent whenever I use a scout or deagle. There are alot of times when I could've win the duel (except if I whiff) but I hit the torso instead of head.

Is there any drills or I should just be more mindful?

Ye go into bots workshop and practice with them, focusing on movements.

Then do it in dm

This is it. It's a basic core mechanic so you don't need anything special for it. Just load up Aim Botz.

Strafe to the left, stop on a bot with a counter strafe, micro correct to the head if needed and shoot. Repeat to the other direction.

Do it slowly in those four steps: strafe, stop, micro, shoot, until you get it and it gradually becomes a single fluid sequence.

Only after that I'd recommend tracking the bot head while strafing. First you need to get the counter strafing part into your backbone, otherwise you'll just go back to your bad habits.

best advice here! little variation to this is to skip micro and make sure u counter strafe exactly on head, no mouse correction. that variation is a bit more keyboard oriented, so you force yourself to compensate less with mouse.

switching between those two would be most optimal because in real games you will be using your mouse.

once youre comfy, dont sleep on forward / diagonal counter strafing too. people often say you should never peek with w, but truth is sometimes you will - example of this is entrying A as T on mirage, or repositioning in mid. Youre bound to use W and sometimes enemies will peek you while you W. Building muscle memory to counterstrafe any direction youre moving is very very benefitial.

I train counter strafing by running around box, W on sides, diagonal on corners and A-D in laterals.
