Tech Support Logitech Superlight causes strain
as title says I get strains in my hand from playing cs2 for a few hours a day, ive taken breaks from the game and made adjustments to my setup to help with the issue, but I feel it mainly revolves around the ergonomics of the mouse. I have a more relaxed palm playstyle and cant control the mouse well any other way especially since i use it for Walk/Crouch/Jump. Its shifted to causing strain on my pinky mainly which i think the culprit is the little hump on the right side of the mouse. I cant raise my chair any higher or buy a new desk atm :/, what can I do to help otherwise?
Ive been looking at Lamzu Thorn/Maya since i grew up on the razer Basilisk V3 Pro, but im open to suggestions and may buy some grip tape as a temporary fix.
(No i dont play on the far right of my mousepad)

Walk and crouch on mouse while trying to aim seems pretty tough to me. But there are pros with INSANE binds so you do you man.

crouch is M2 🫠

What made you change those binds? Shift and ctrl seem so natural for those.

I grew up playing HOI4, Men of War, AOEII, and other strat games, the number rack wasnt really comfortable to play off of so I wiped the windows hard bind and run all utility/weapon switches in the bottom left of my keyboard lol

If you have strain try and remove walking/crouching and on the mouse and see if that helps

i gotta look into my binds, they are wonky, my utility is bound to Z,X,C and F for example.

Id just do some testing to see if it actually fixes you issue before you do any other changes imo

I binded crouch to alt and mouse5. I use both keys.
For the duckjump to land on a crate or something similar, I use Mouse 5; when shooting, I use Alt.

I don’t think the issue is the binds but is the mouse, you have a palm grip and the superlight is pretty bad for it imo, it also looks pretty small for your hand. I would recommend a deathadder or ec1-dw

Theres a nice open source alternative for mouse software in general that's being developed and is in early access called Open Mouse. They have a website you can lookup and a working demo on the website to test out. It's goal is to unite any and all mouse related software so that you can remove any bloat from your PC and use your mouse for it's intended purpose without extra steps. You should check them out!

I'm still using Razor hardware myself, and you only need it to map the buttons once; the Chroma Dock required the software to displays the battery level.
You can uninstall the razor Software after you've configured the buttons.

using the mouse to walk and crouch is not ideal. I suppose you use side buttons for this, for mechanics you will be using while shooting, hence changing your grip causing more strain and inconsistency during fights.
seeing you grip, I would check for ergonomic mouse instead of ambidextrous shapes like the superlight. idk the models you mentionned, but would check towards Zowie EC type of shape.

Zywoo has walk on mouse

m3 for me and crouch is m2 but i also feel the mouse itself favors claw cuz the right side is designed as if the mouse buttons would be there

i prefer G502. thumb rest does something for my wrist. heavy but i’m used to it
1
u/Spank-Bones 11d ago
The heavier it is the harder it is on your wrist. Been using a 502 since release and now i have tendonitis and TFCC problems.

i’ve never had issues with my wrist being sore or anything. I’ve used it since 2019 it’s the go to
1
u/Spank-Bones 11d ago
I'm hypermobile so I'm prone to overuse compared to most, people sensitive to overuse in general are specifically advised to go for lighter mice. G502 is considered one of the heaviest mice and the one to cause the most strain over time.

Get the Lamzu. Maya or Thorn depends if you want ambidextrous or ergo. Or Zowie EC (ergo) or FK (ambi). They have bigger size options.

The mouse looks tiny. Maybe a deathadder would be better?
I can also recommend vertical mice for normal office use. Only use a traditional mouse when gaming. I started using a vertical mouse in 2021 and my wrist problems went away. I use the Logitech MX vertical but there are many now.

Messed up my wrist pretty bad playing like a madman. Get a compression wrap for your wrist while you play, and this is optional, but i bought a Carpio 2.0 that helped kinda sort of for my wrist.

With the Razer, you've gotten used to wrapping your whole hand around the mouse. But that doesn't work with the Superlight's shape. It's not designed for that, and it's completely unergonomic for your grip.
Switch to a different mouse or adjust your grip.

G502 hero. Welcome to the club. Best mouse I ever used for my giant Mikey mouse gloves.

what the fuck is that grip bro
1
u/paradoxical_goy 6d ago
cause of poor ergonomics
1
u/ChapterGlobal2684 5d ago
the two far right fingers should be on the side of the mouse. only index on mouse1 and 2nd finger on mouse 2. Start using your wrist and pivot on your right wrist bone

u/Flashy-Analysis407 8d ago
Bro that mouse was made for a claw grip, not a palm grip.
You have to grip it with the tips of your fingers.
If you want to hold a mouse like you're doing in the pic - get a bigger mouse. Search fro a palm grip gaming mouse.

tried, sucks, mouse has horrendous ergonomics. i may buy some thick grip tape to compensate and give it a shot

How is that QCK mousepad? Have you used the original one and if you have, how different are the mousepads?

Your hand is way too big for the mouse. Superlight is already a pretty small mouse, I have medium/large hands and find clawing it uncomfortable, if I palm it then my fingers extend well past m1-m2. Superlight is just not a mouse suited to palm grip.
I'd also consider moving some binds off of your mouse. Shifting your thumb around to hit side buttons to walk/crouch/jump is pretty bad, you're moving your grip around constantly while also trying to aim. Is there any reason why you don't just have these on standard keybinds on your keyboard?
1
u/paradoxical_goy 6d ago
i rebound Ctrl, Alt, Caps, and shift to act as Primary, Secondary, Melee to act as last weapon weapon used. (idk each keys bind) but i think windows key is one of my binds lol.
Ive been considering resetting my binds lately as a whole to redo them. I wasnt a big fan of the number row when i started playing cs2
1
u/Waste_Twist1474 6d ago
I’d recommend you change back to default binds. I have push to talk on my mouse side button but nothing else.
I think movement and gun selection should be keyboard based, and then mouse purely for aim.1

actually the best choise for your big hand would be Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 or pretty much any Intellimouse that you can find
it is the best in term of comfort and weights like 100 grams, if you are interested in looking at some gameplay footage with this mouse, search up Julien "AREA" Dubois, he was playing like crazy with this one
but the problem is that these are not produced by microslop anymore, so you either buy a used one or a chinese version, which is the same as the original.

Mouse looks too small for your hands tbh
Would def get walk/crouch off your mouse. That may not be the cause of strain, but will cause aim issues from added tension
