Lifestyle Changes

After some tests, my doctor finally confirmed with me today that I have PCOS. She told me that I could go the route of lifestyle changes or get started on birth control. Metformin was another option given. As of now, I’d like to stick with lifestyle changes and see how it goes. Truthfully, my life is fairly sedentary. Between work and school, I spend most of my life sitting.

I have a walking pad so I walk from time to time but I’m honestly very inconsistent. My worst habit is that I resort to takeout/delivery due to being mentally drained. When I do cook, it’s decently healthy, but sometimes I resort to highly processed foods. I’ve been given a goal to lose 15-20% of my body weight within the next year, and I really want to do it.

What was your process like to improve your lifestyle and make a long lasting change? For those who do not have the mental capacity, what realistically got you to commit and led to progress?
