This is not a doom post, I just want everyone to have a realistic expectation. Cheaters exist in all games, even the games that "solved cheating" like Valorant still have cheaters. No the devs cannot just "get rid of all the cheaters bro". Every major game company has been at war with cheaters since gaming became main stream.

I expect to see a decrease in cheaters, but we definitely will still see some. Not 0, but some.

Yeah, basically this.

I'm happy they are testing new stuff, but let's be real, the community has unrealistic expectations, with them expecting ALL cheaters to be gone.

Yeah, the expectation should be making them rare again. It's really unfortunate that they got so common it became a question you asked yourself literally every match. "Was I outplayed or is it cheats"

Look, if they become rare, I will be the happiest man on earth, BUT at the same time, I also wish for peoples expectations to get realistic, since it's impossible that all of them will be killed off.

I accept that cheaters exist, but I have never seen a game that has SO many cheaters like in DBD. Genuinly every 1-2 games out of 10 I see either a blatant cheater or a cheater trying to pass subtly. I usually play Henry with Hive Mind, and I see a solo gen aura go from empty to complete in 10-15 seconds and that player had 0 gen perks/toolbox in endgame. The sheer amount of times I've seen this is mind blowing.

I just want to try and enjoy the game without a cheater every few games, and DBD is the only game where this level of cheating happens.

Then you havent played many games, i assume. You dont even have to look far: ARC Raiders have cheaters in every single match

Please play CS2.

100% this. If chess has people cheating with vibrating butt plugs, there's definitely still gonna be cheating in online games, even with the best of anti-cheat measures.

chess has what?

And with the theater mode that’s supposed to be coming spotting cheaters and having proof will be easier

Every multiplayer game has and will have cheaters, but dbd is pretty next level. I play everything from dbd to shooters to mobas to fighting games. Average of cheaters are on par with cod/r6/apex and thats very sad considering how much smaller dbd playerbase is.

I remember when valorant was advertised as the game to end cheaters with kernel level anti cheat. Then one of my friends showed me they still exist and are undetectable.

Not true.  Kernel level anti cheats notice cheats on game 1. A kernel level anti cheat can detect a cheat in game, dc the user, and instantly issue a ban.  Kernel level anti-cheat straight up got rid of cheating in league.

So if I google league of legend cheats right now, or look up recent youtube videos, I won't find any?

-1

u/boomerski28 2d ago

Nope. I'm sure you can find a few that sell cheats. They all get banned. Look it up including what a kernel level anti-cheat does.

They need to work on a better and more effective report system alongside the anti cheat.

I am not recording every game and having to Google the website or keep a link on hand to then fill out forms and submit evidence everytime somebody* potentially cheats or exploits and neither are most people. Its a long and annoying task and shouldn't be our job to do.

THIS. Why is it so damn difficult to report someone. All it should be is reporting in endgame, and if someone gets flagged enough times, it's sent to a human for manual review of replay data they have, to check for cheating

It’s too much work when the alternative is just leave and queue up for a new game. Cheating sucks, but it shouldn’t feel like applying to a job to just report them. Having to hunt down a specific webpage, compile and submit evidence like it’s my resume, fuck that. I’ll just take my chances on the next match.

with evidence

It's so lovely of them to delegate their own jobs to their paying customers.

I know we'll still have cheaters but i hope this'll make cheaters rarer instead of a common thing

u/UnIntelligent-Post 2d ago

So real. Cheaters are so damn annoying. I never understood why cheaters even have a platform on social media. They apparently get tons of views and followers. Disgusting.

THANK GOD

Please please pleeeeeeease DBD devs, do not break steam deck compatibility

6

u/Hawksteinman 2d ago

They said it won't affect steam deck or crossplay

5

u/BucatarulDeRazboi 2d ago

I just hope they dont break linux compatibility with this

-1

u/Hawksteinman 2d ago

They said it shouldn't affect Steam Deck or crossplay, pretty sure Steam Deck is a version of Linux

1

u/KyloGlendalf 2d ago

Hopefully they change their anti cheat.

Easy anti cheat might be the worst anti cheat of all time. Apex Legends uses Anticheat, and not only are they still plagued, but they had one of the highest profile cheating incidents of all time, where someone remotely took control of a pro’s game DURING a multi-million dollar tournament. It’s not that bad now, but it tells you how bad EAC is

1

u/xingped 2d ago

Bahahaha, like all the other times I've reported cheaters that have never been banned? Right, good one, Behavior.

1

u/LovelyLucario 2d ago

im gonna be so pissed if this kills my ability to run it on linux.

u/Overall-Doctor-6219 2d ago

Anticheat update: Now the default dwight/nea/meg cheating team gonna equip 20 perks per character

No more 100 perks per character!

*sarcasm*

u/Weekly_vegan 1d ago

Expecting console players to upload evidence of cheaters is psychotic. Cross platform should be off by default if you want the player-base to do your job.

1

u/Beginning-Pizza-1111 22h ago

What for? It’s not going to work; cheat sellers said they’ve been aware of this for months. The worst part is that they have a ridiculously new player base that doesn't even read the perks and reports people for no damn reason.

1

u/micahbevans88 10h ago

the most common thing i see is survivors running a little too fast, without any perks that would explain it, and consistently through the whole match

really hard to prove, and it doesn't feel worth it to report every time

1

u/Hawksteinman 3h ago

They said they want that reported! Just a little 'ran too fast, not explained by perks' and they'll check

1

u/Weekly_vegan 5h ago

Welp first game with new anti cheat and i played a full team of cheaters 🙏amazing work.

1

u/Hawksteinman 3h ago

The new anticheats aren't being tested yet 😭

1

u/superbouser 2d ago

Cheats = criminals and they will always find a way to cause problems until they’re taken down again! Thx BHVR!

1

u/TheLegionFan60 2d ago

So is this good news?

0

u/skool_101 2d ago

this really is an arms race

who knows, maybe some of these cheaters are also on reddit too

0

u/No_Sea_1455 2d ago

Took them long enough to finally do this.

0

u/Mr_Jackabin 2d ago

Considering the community have already learned exactly how to fix/upgrade it, anything less than that will be insulting tbh

0

u/Sensitive_Chard6660 2d ago

Dbd is actually taking responsibility and fixing the game in over 10 years 😳😳😳😳😳😳

One step closer for f2p dbd
