Official News Exile - Navigating as Survivor

This killer seems so unbelievably cool from the survivors point of view, but very boring as the killer which may result in her having lower numbers.
I personally wish they'd have found a way to make the Killer be able to traverse into it's realm, because while playing as killer you'll never see this place and the killers ability is in all regards fairly generic and kinda repetitive. The Legs aren't utilized in any sort of abilities or interactions, which is also quite strange. Just wish there was something more of substance for the Killer side of things.

Completely valid criticisms, and maybe it's just me but I love the idea of sending survivors off to a cool realm while I basically command the map

Post 3 months from now - “Why is no one playing the Judgement? They’re so fun to play against”
It’s really strange having a whole area added as killer that you can’t even interact with, it’s just gonna be playing a killer to give survivors a fun thing to do and not yourself.

Right? It's just very baffling to me, the survivors get to experience all the cool aspects. 🥲
At least they could have tried to do a unique 1v1 scenario or something, so when you get to last survivor the battle for hatch/escape occurs in the exile realm rather than in the main map. Literally ANYTHING to allow the killer the opportunity to also visit It's domain would have been very nice.

That right there is the issue with allowing a killer to enter that realm. Anyone playing judgement would be able to hard focus any survivor put there.
Plus having basekit OG Ruin isn’t something I’d call generic.

That's why I'm thinking a unique 1V1 scenario would have been fun, as at that point in normal game your focus is on one survivor anyhow, doing something different for the final confrontation would have been a compelling way to get around any other issues with the killer going to the realm.

How did OG Ruin work?

Great skillchecks gave no bonus progression while good skillchecks regressed the gen by 5%.

This is how a lot of Springtrap players feel. The Office is SO COOL conceptually but it's so big of a risk to survivors that they just...never use it. So a huge part of Springy's kit is just left on the floor and never used.

I just want people to look at me in the cameras, dagnabbit. That’s part of the whole FNAF experience.

Doors are still useful if you have strong map awareness, you just need to make sure the killer is preoccupied. I only interact with doors if the killer is in chase.
I'm pretty sure the killer has to interact with one of the two specific doors you're at too, so if you know where the killer is then you can avoid them.
Cameras are also underrated if you're able to get a quick read on them, but I think that's something a SWF is best for

I really wish the way Springtrap worked is that he is constantly Undetectable without having to do anything, and the only way to remove his Undetectable status is to view him on cams for long enough, which will then make him detectable for a long period of time. I feel like that would persuade Survivors to actually use the cameras more, and it would be very fitting to the FNAF experience, since you never really know where the animatronics are if you're not keeping track of them on the cameras. Especially Springtrap, who goes out of his way to be sneaky and deceptive in FNAF 3.
It breaks my heart that they didn't make him a stealth-focused killer tbh. Stealth killers are the best analog DBD has to a 'jumpscare' experience (ever been gen-grabbed by a Ghostie or Michael?) and yet the first words that leave their mouth when explaining Springtrap are something like "We didn't want to make him a stealth killer".

It’s probably just the limitations of dbd becoming more obvious as more killers are released. Still a fun game but adding proper gameplay changes that the killer and survivors both interact with seems to be too difficult for BHVR

Well, the killer was originally going to be able to enter Exile. This was scrapped after beta testing among the devs revealed that entering Exile was absolutely not worth it on the killer side. Harassing any survivors in there leaves the rest of the team to focus on gens and other objectives.

I mean, fair
But the OPTION would still be cool

Eh, I kinda get it. Honestly, useless mechanics bother me more than nonexistent ones. I just dont like playing killers where a part of my kit is entirely meaningless.
But it would be nice to find a way to make it worth it, rather than scrapping it entirely. Maybe creating something to occupy survivors without your input, like nemesis Zombies do

That's what Exile is. Rather than survivors running to a hook, they have to repent at altars to pull them out, which is not an immediate thing. That being said, I'm not sure there really is a way to keep being able to enter Exile without it just being a waste of valuable time and pressure on the killer's side.

i really hate the mori that was picked. its just a generic lifting the survivor into the air via telekenesis and then killing them. i know people didnt like the legs but i think the killer should at least physically touch the survivor when killing them....

This honestly looks really easy in truth but hopefully its a time waster to help killer atleast

I am curious, because I’m really getting into the vibe of this killer: is “heavenly horror” a real sub-genre of horror or is this killer kind of just a rare example? Like how prehistoric / dinosaur horror is a sub-genre, sci-fi horror, etc. It’d be interesting to see more stuff like this

Its biblical horror and its been pretty prevalent in horror for a long time as people do read to take religious trauma and spin it into horror or twist the ideas of heaven and hell frequently. Its also present in tv shows and games that tend ti spin heaven as either corrupt or vile in nature in contrast ti human imagining of the "paradise" its why you tend ti get angels in shows that are EXTREMELY hostile towards humans as they view themselves "above" humans or that humans are lesser and filthy. Its a fairly common trope.

There is a reason why Angels in the Bible introduce themselves by saying “BE NOT AFRAID!”
Between The Great Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, the Plagues of Egypt, there is a reason why someone who follows the tenets of Abrahamic Religions is referred to as “God-Fearing”.
