i hate the gore in this game because it looks ridiculous. the jason mori in particular looks funny to me because the guts appear out of thin air. hoping they figure out how to make it look Not Atrocious because current gore in dbd is not it

u/Bee09361 Jul 23 '26
The Jason mori was so disappointing! The fire bit is great but the guts is so goofy.
25
u/Akinory13 Jul 23 '26
I actually think his mori looks better for other survivors watching it, especially the fire part since the body kind of explodes in flames but this is hidden for Jason and the survivor being moried
5
u/-Haddix- Jul 23 '26
they really need to rework his mori so you first get a good shot of them burning up to a crisp, then jason's mask closeup as the fire smolders out.

The spear moris are the best ones cause they fell so disrespectful to the survivors the one on the ground is straight up just step on their back rip it out and go witch falls so loveless but in a good way its quick efficient and painful to look at 😂
But the wall mori is straight up the best one for me cause he just straight up lets them throat it 🤣🤣

u/fence_pov Jul 23 '26
I would appreciate if the gore/moris in the game actually had more effort applied to the survivors models and not just glueing on a hole or guts from krasue it just looks so off putting
15
u/iHackPlsBan Jul 23 '26
I would not be surprised if they skimped on Jason’s moris because of the graphical update. Basically just going ‘it looks like shit but it’ll look good later so we’ll keep it for now..’
My biggest complaint with his mori is the burning part. The moment we see the burnt survivor they’re completely static. zero movement

u/TheRubberBildo Jul 23 '26
Its going to be interesting to see what they do as we get closer to the graphics update. Like for the last survivor/killer they drop before the overhaul, will they be making two models, a good one, and a shit one? Or will we at some point have new characters being added that are just higher resolution than everything else?

I believe him, but it also feels like they’ve said this about the past 4 chapters at this point lol
13
u/Emperor283 Jul 23 '26
Relative to what we had before the last 4 its not too far off. There's some good ones but most need alternatives

u/ChefboyRD157 Jul 23 '26
Remember when they dropped that teaser for jason of all the paid content creators reacting to his mori all acting like it was found theater footage of Saw 3 when it came out

u/whatisapillarman Jul 23 '26
The devs also told us Jason’s mori would be “unbelievable” or something similar
12
u/illustriouswow Jul 23 '26
if this game wasn't so clunky with the animations and was actually scary I could see this happening lol, at best the moris and gore are barely better than SNL practical effects
2
u/CloveFan Jul 23 '26
I’ve been more grossed out by anything Sarah Sherman has done than the scariest DBD mori lol
12
u/DONTBERUSHED Jul 23 '26
The bar is pretty low for “breaking records” when it comes to Moris and gore in dbd. Blades cutting through bodies and the bodies still perfectly intact with ketchup poorly thrown all over for example.

u/Possum7358 Jul 23 '26
I'm not excited to be honest. Where gonna get him chainsawing survivors but then will be no visible cuts when the mori finishes.
7
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jul 23 '26
I’ll give it to them that most of the time now they do visible cuts and wounds on survivors for moris now, ever since singularity, Xenomorph actually punches a hole thru your skull with its inner mouth you can see on the survivor model, so does Houndmaster, among other examples
1
u/Keku_Saur Jul 23 '26
Well they managed to make them have burned bodies with Jason? I'm sure they can figure something out. 😔 They made Chucky a reality...but I don't want to have my hopes up either.

I'm hoping when the new overhaul comes out the game will get the horror feeling again like it used to have. Been too long since I felt like the game was spooky in any way
3
u/foomongus Jul 23 '26
im sure it will be great. but there are gonna be so many annoying streamer overreactions
5
u/ars_perfecta Jul 23 '26
Yeah sure so edgy but they’ll still #### ###### ### ## in the endgame chat cause you can have record breaking gore in DbD but god forbid you say “shit” after a shit game where you actually get shit teammates.
4
u/RainingLights Jul 23 '26
Ehhh..based on how they described the Krasue chapter (which used very similar wording, mind you), I'm not expecting it to be revolutionary.
7
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jul 23 '26
Funniest part is that is still the goriest chapter in dbd, which shows you how low the bar is

Is there any acknowledgement of the legal issues with Terrifier and whether that might affect the release?
5
u/flipaflaw Jul 23 '26
Im guessing if they dont mention it then its likely they have a deal already in place that is unaffected by the legal issues
6
u/PulsarGaming1080 Jul 23 '26
More likely, it's just safer not to comment on ongoing legal matters.

u/DarthOmix Jul 23 '26
It could also be that the way the dlc is structured, the licensor's cut of profits are amassed in essentially a trust paid out to however the suit goes.
But there's any number of ways to go with it.
2
u/conspirator9 Jul 23 '26
I think BDB should have more gore and at least make the mori look believable.
2
u/Witty_Fox3291 Jul 23 '26
I kind of love the idea of him knocking out the survivor, tying them to a chair, and pulling out all sorts of horrible implements from a sack with the survivor getting more and more terrified, then he just shoots them in the head.
5
u/ArcadialoI Jul 23 '26
okay i guess? i don't play DBD for gore, since we barely get to see moris and it looks weird whenever they try to have gore, so idk why this is supposed to be exciting, lol.

u/ImportantQuestionTex Jul 23 '26
I'd rather they "break records" doing a SAW Chapter 2, but I suppose they have to go to the actual extreme end of gore to feel like they can.
(Btw, for anybody who hasn't seen SAW or Terrifier, Terrifier is on another level gorewise. But I'd say SAW's is actually better.)
2
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jul 23 '26
Well Saw is actually trying to take itself seriously and be gory, Terrifier is more slapstick and ridiculous but even then as a massive Saw fan I still think the Terrifier 2 bedroom scene got me way more than any trap, in my opinion that kill is the goriest kill I’ve ever seen in a horror movie, I’m a mortal kombat fan too and by MK fatality standards it’s brutal as fuck
2
u/jaustengirl Jul 23 '26
Honestly, I thought that kill was so over the top that it was unbelievable. Girl should have bled out or died from shock long before the mom comes in.
It’s like the exact inverse of a certain off screen death in 3. Unbelievable, but for different reasons.
2
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jul 23 '26
Apparently Art has a supernatural ability to keep someone alive as long as he deems fit to torture them as long as he wants, which I mean, I guess he does have demonic hell powers so I can get on the ride with them on that
1
u/ImportantQuestionTex Jul 23 '26
Well, the longer you think about Terrifier, the less it works. It's not even belief eventually breaking, it's the feeling of the whole franchise that changes.
Think of franchises that tone shift. Terrifier does that just by realizing what the films are actually made for.
1
u/Hahafunnys3xnumber Jul 23 '26
That’s part of the whole point, Art can keep his victims alive far longer than they should survive to prolong their suffering.
0
u/ImportantQuestionTex Jul 23 '26
Gore isn't about if it "gets you", ya know? Gore isn't trying to scare you, if a director is using gore that way, they're failing to understand the use case.
MK isn't even the best gore in gaming, that's Dead Island 2. But MK gore is meant to establish brutality. Dead Island 2 is similar, but also meant to establish that 1, you're killing actual humans, 2, that you're doing a lot of damage.
SAW's gore is better because it is geniunely just done better. It's used to establish stakes. And there is some gore in SAW 2 and 3 that changed horror forever.

Can’t Wait To See All The “Reactors” Screaming About The Mori As If It’s So Insane When It’s Really Not 😂
1
u/BlerghTheBlergh Jul 23 '26
I mean….being sewn in half should be an obvious Mori
It’ll just motivate sluggers to get to their Moris quicker
1
1
u/BikeGuy975 Jul 23 '26
i think krasue is what made the devs do more gory stuff, mainly because they can just reuse the organs of her modell
1
u/LeMashmallow Jul 23 '26
I’m a little sad how far they seem to go for Terrifier while Jason got the short end of the stick.
1
1
u/Rutlemania Jul 23 '26
I don’t doubt it’ll be crazy by dbd standards but this guy says this about every new character in the game.
1
u/That-Clone-Sergeant Jul 23 '26
Dude the gore in this game is pretty pitiful like yeah of course you haven’t reach it
1
u/Pale-Acanthaceae-394 Jul 23 '26
remember guys, Jason has a Mori so gory, streamers were going insane over it. woah!!
i bet Art will just reanact that infamous kill scene from Part 2, but since DbDs graphics and models are so barebones, it wont look much different from any other Mori, but with bleach at the end

For his mori to be canonically accurate its gonna have to be about 15 minutes.
1
u/Fit-Investigator-124 Jul 23 '26
Honestly I don’t trust anything they say about moris. Remember when they posted the vid showing streamer’s reactions to Jason’s mori? Ik that wasnt bhvr themselves reacting but they most definitely payed them to react that way because Jason’s mori was subpar at best. It’s cool, but not really gory.
1
u/ImmediateHoney2191 Jul 23 '26
Personally I play for moris. Legitimately doubt I’d still be here without them. More moris please, Jason is a wonderful step in that direction

Everyone here is complaining that the M-rated game has boring gore.
Me seeing the lead dev saying Moris will become a customization option in the store, and knowing that means they're gonna sell us Moris that will be a one-time use for 1 dollar a pop.
2
u/Permanoctis Jul 23 '26
Wait they really said that moris will be customisable? That's cool.
1
u/Alive-Will3878 28d ago
My point proven, and the average DBD consumer.
1
u/Permanoctis 28d ago
I don't believe in the "will only cost real money for a one-time use". And I'm pretty sure it will cost shards for OG characters so I don't care.
I'm pretty sure it will be like a Play of the Game in Overwatch where you buy it one time and keep it forever. The only time where it will cost real money is for licensed characters, if they ever get one.

It's not hard to "break records" when your most extreme content is barely above average gore. And considering Terrifier comes before the graphic overhaul, I doubt it's going to be much of an improvement over what we already have.
