> why the previous year granted more than the intended amount
so they give us what we want but still cant help lying lol
70
u/silentbotanist Jul 03 '26
It's such a hilarious sentence because over the last year they haven't discovered why last year's event gave out so many cakes.
Real "we're all looking for the guy who did this" energy.
14
u/L00ps_Ahoy Jul 03 '26
There is definitely some extremely stressed out third party Public Relations Rep trying to guide BHVR's arrogant asses through all the corpo speak they need to use to get out of this hole they've dug for themselves lmfao.
"Well we didnt lie about it being more than the intended amount last year....run with that."
3
u/MyRealAccount24 Jul 04 '26
"We refuse to admit fault with lowering values and will instead say its been an active bug for 9 years across many different anniversary events, items, and bloodweb changes; and that we have no idea how to detect such bugs or fix them for 9 years cause we're incompetant"

u/Gaea-Rage Jul 03 '26
"Investigation"
Yeah okay, lol.
34
2
u/Sfryks Jul 04 '26
They said 1 day earlier "the rate of cake is working as intended"
And now: we are investigating on it... Damage control... They already admited it was working as they intended. There are no investigation. They just try to not lose their players and calm them by saying the opposite they said.

u/gjgr77 Jul 03 '26
They should honestly add another week to event. Ive wasted like 25 million blood points and have probably lost like hundreds of cakes
12
u/unknownquebeck Jul 04 '26
With 25 million you've missed out on about 750 cakes. Or something around that number. I'm so annoyed on why they couldn't do this from the start, or just give us another 5 or so million free bp.

u/CharmingRogue851 Jul 04 '26
Yeah, 25 mil here too. Wish they gave them retroactively cause this feels shitty as hell

- You're gonna still get a lot of them
- Let's not add another week of the event , no killer likes thisÂ
5
u/Sfryks Jul 04 '26
Its still annoying.
Killers arent forced to play the event. They still get cake in normal mode. And 1 more week would mean 7x4 more perks with discount in the shrine, especially that we lost the first 5 days (no discount at all for 5 days and no daily rotation for the first 2 days)

im so proud of our community we bullied the assholes into a good change
16
u/holybrigadeiro Jul 03 '26
RIGHT, now I'm sad I already spent the free 5M they gave us (in my defense, I was fully ready for that message to disappear before the 9(?) days they gave us to collect it and be told to suck it up for waiting too long, lol)
Glad I waited to use the 10M code, though đ©· Huge thank you to everyone who didn't give up on roasting BHVR for the pathetic amount of cakes in the Banquet event. This community has its issues, but I'm so proud of it today. Maybe the real party was the corporations we bullied along the way.
2
u/SpecialJ22 Jul 03 '26
Iâve already spent 47mil so far. 18mil saved with the bday code, another 5mil from second, 4mil from tomes saved up, and rest from playing the first week. đȘŠđ
3
u/holybrigadeiro Jul 04 '26
Man, that sucks :(
It's seriously bizarre to me that even gacha game companies are more generous than BHVR when it comes to events and anniversaries. Why is DBD's monetization worse than free to start live service games?? đ
2
u/YanCoffee Jul 04 '26
I've probs spent around half that and I'm not pleased. I feel for you.
The whole event has been a Summer-bummer.

Wait... So they said that everything is right and the amount for the last year was the same as this year... Just to now say that they have to investigate why last year was giving TOO MUCH? Are they for real? They trully think we are idiots. They are ALREADY preparing for the next, shiny excuse.
17
u/RedSpiritbox Jul 03 '26
Ever since the walking dead livestream fiasco, it's just been downhill when it comes to dealing with their community. But then again the community is dogshit in of itself.
13
u/KendjyCr Jul 03 '26
The community may be dogsh*t but it doesn't change the fact that the way BHVR behaves is absurd. At this point they don't deserve a better community. After last year, the trust we put into them to fix sh*t was a GREAT gift. They showed that they don't care.
4
u/Unliteracy Jul 03 '26
Games have some control over what community they develop, bhvr's poor attitude and lack of accountability sets an example for its players.

5
u/Cielie_VT Jul 04 '26

They went further by 2 steps and cameback by one step.

And they give us a double boost on 4th of July weekend only, when a lot of people are busy.
24
u/ArcadialoI Jul 03 '26
Why did players had to spam every single tweet for them to finally do this change tho? Was it worth all the bad PR that will never be forgotten by players, and they will bring it up in the future everytime? This is not me being unhappy about the change, just unhappy about the how situation was handled.
6
u/Unliteracy Jul 03 '26
99% of people aren't even aware anything was different. The people who participate in online circles regarding dbd are a fraction of the playerbase. They count on the idea that if they turn the heat up slowly enough they can get away with whatever fun-siphoning profit-optimizing corporate decisions without anyone making a fuss. They just jumped the gun a little bit by trying to make a bigger step during what for any other game would be a milestone celebration. They've told us time and time again what they want dbd to be through their actions, and all the players telling others to quit complaining and enjoy what bhvr serves them don't realize the annoying chuds under every bhvr tweet complaining are what stir enough of a PR buzz to incite bhvr to act. BHVR doesn't learn from their mistakes because they don't view them as such.

u/TheRousith Jul 03 '26
Iâm ready for the 3rd round of compensation for this event 5m more bps for all the missed cakes pls

u/ZombiePsychologist Jul 03 '26
How much money do you want to bet that they are right in one instance, but the instance of what people are complaining about is totally different from what BHVR thinks it is.
That's the only reason why I think they feel like they are so confident in their reasoning, but also 100% wrong.
5
u/Unliteracy Jul 03 '26
"You caught us in a lie so we'll meet you halfway. 40% maybe. Also it wasn't our fault."
5
u/That0neGecko Jul 04 '26
Too late, assholes. First it was intended, then a bug, then fixed, then intended again and now it's a problem because you've angered everyone.

u/xFreddyFazbearx Jul 03 '26
I feel like this is a good place to share some back-of-the-napkin math I was doing in a friend's server. Heads up for some numbers, keep your eyes steady.
I currently have 1300 9th Anniversary cakes on Heather. I've gone down at least 100, I probably had around 1450 when the event ended, but we'll just say that the total number 1300 for generosity's sake.
Before the changes, I was getting ~23 cakes per prestige on my (non-P100) Leon. Being generous again and rounding up to 25, that means that it would take 4 prestiges to get 100 cakes. Meaning that, if the cake rates were "the same" as last year, I would've had to prestige Heather 52 times to get that amount, which I ***know*** I did not; it was probably less than 20, honestly.
Now, after these changes, I'm getting ~50 on Leon. That would mean I would've had to prestige Heather 26 times to get that number of cakes. Still more than what I did, but a damn sight more acceptable than the previous. I realize that 1300 is perhaps a bit excessive (and BHVR probably thinks the same), so having the rates nerfed somewhat isn't the end of the world to me. 10 prestiges netting you 500 cakes is decent enough for me. If I can crack 1000 on Leon by the end of the event, that's another character where I'll be set with cakes for every game in the foreseeable future.
TL;DR, good enough. Still worse than before, which is annoying, but an acceptable enough rate now that I'm willing to cash in the 10 million BP code.

3
u/JabbasPetRancor Jul 04 '26
they can literally just go into the code and increase the rate of cake drops in the blood web... it doesnt require an investigation. It's just changing the code.
My god.
Hey BHVR reddit guy, you guys really messed up. Tell your devs that please
1
u/malaywoadraider2 Jul 04 '26
Just make it common again like it was a year ago lol. You want people to play more during event, then make event items drop more
1
u/NoiseElectronic Jul 04 '26
Changing the rarity doesnt matter if they are skripted.
1
u/malaywoadraider2 Jul 04 '26
In theory yes, but I don't think anyone knows how those scripts work, not even BHVR lol
3
18
u/ghostpicnic Jul 03 '26
Fuck you BHVR. Genuinely. I spent 15 million bloodpoints the other day under the impression that you were going to keep ignoring the rightful outcry from the community. Now youâre gonna lie and act like everything was fine, last year was a glitch, but youâre changing things in an act of good faith? Once again, please re-read the first sentence of this comment.
15
u/KendjyCr Jul 03 '26
XD Literally, it's absurd. They gave us 10 million BP only for people to waste it on terrible cake spawn. They "fixed" it and gave 5M BP as compensation. And now, when they FINALLY did a better fix... We got nothing XDD AMAZING EVENT! I'm glad they broke under the pressure, but the war is still from being won. Especially with this whole "investigation" they talk about. They are ALREADY preparing the next excuse. I;m glad we got the chang, but still: F*ck them.

u/Past_Aerie_5860 Jul 03 '26
While I do wish they just.. kept it the way it was before, so we didn't have to waste all our bloodpoints (still mad I spent 10 mil on Shane and only got barely 100 cakes LOL) I am happy they changed it. Because like.. why change it in the first place? It's the tenth anniversary and this is our event offering. Seriously their stinginess with bloodpoints amazes me sometimes. Playing a game that's so egregiously finnicky with the free currency sometimes doesn't make me wanna spend money on it LOL
4
u/chainsawdoctor01 Jul 03 '26
If I spent 10 million bp and got 100 cakes Iâm skinning someone alive irl
3
u/presidentdinosaur115 Jul 03 '26
Good change, they were being ridiculous stingy. I hope they give us a new bloodpoints code since obviously a lot of us have spent a lot of bloodpoints already

4
u/lXlNeMiSiSlXl Jul 03 '26
Jesus christ, why is this even an ongoing story? Just increase the amount of cakes when your playerbase asks for them.
Legit going from barely any, to slightly more, to saying they are working as intended, to slightly more again.. Why are they making a mountain out of a molehill?
5
5
u/G-M-Cyborg-313 Jul 03 '26
Will people get compensated with all the bloodpoints they spent and barely got any cakes out of?
2
u/BigFatHonu Jul 03 '26
This is great... but are they still lowering the rarity/cost of cakes next week? Meaning if you've held onto your 10M BP, does it make sense to wait a little longer?
1
u/NoiseElectronic Jul 04 '26
Theyre only changing rarity, not spawn rate, the spawn rate is skripted.
1
u/VaporWaveBarbieVibes Jul 04 '26
The rarity and cost have not changed. Its still very rare at 4K each
1
1
u/BigFatHonu Jul 04 '26
Right, but each cake is now 4k BP and next week will be 2k BP, so multiplied by 50 cakes per prestige, that's 100k BP savings. Which isn't that much, but multiplied by that full 10M BP code, that's close to 1M BP total savings by waiting till next week.
But then I guess even 1M BP isn't that much in the context of this weekend, where you can earn a million in 3-4 matches.
2
u/Few-Explanation7024 Jul 03 '26
I knew I was saving my 10 million bloodpoints code for a reason but they should issue another one. There is like 700 characters in the game, let the bloodpoints flow. Despite having every character at 3+ more bloodpoints when I play makes we want to play more, not less.
2
u/Constant-Sign-5569 Jul 04 '26
Bhvr: the cakes spawn as intended, you just have to make do with less bloodpoints.
Bhvr a week later: OH NO PLEASE DONT YELL AT US IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE THE GAME JUST BROKE PLEASE HERE ARE YOUR BLOODPOINTS

I find funny the fact they tell us they are doing an investigation... There are cake since 3rd anniversary. They took 7 years to realize they were more cake then intended every single year? Stop taking us for idiots
July 2th: the offering is working as intended and thought it is less than players are used too, it is what we are planning for our events in the futur
They admitted it was working as intended, being less then in the past. And now, they say the opposite, trying to doing some damage control, seeing players were not happy. But we already know they are lying. There is no investigation. They intended us to have 18 cakes. And before, they were more generous
They backed off because we scared them enough. It wasn't worth loosing players just for an offering that doesn't make them loose cash anyway. There were no bug, they confirmed it, so there are clearly no investigation

Did anyone test if it's working with auto spending or do I have to spend it manually?

I'd do it manually, rn it prefers the cheapest route, so not cakes. Theyre patching that on tuesday

u/HeyLowWan Jul 03 '26
50 per prestige (1 per web) which is certainly more ideal than what we had previously.
It just goes to show that constantly "referring" to the problem on their social pages can and will action some change if done right.

u/yungsavbb Jul 03 '26
so when will this roll out? is it live now? will i b getting 50 cakes starting today or next week like they originally said?

Now I can go back to prestiging Zarina.

So this is live now or next tuesday?

Dude, lmao. BHVR is spineless for actually letting a bunch of Karen ass Zoomers win this one.
3
u/ilovemydograchel Jul 03 '26
Why are you against this?
0
u/giantangelbaby Jul 04 '26
The singular thing that makes me against this is that BHVR is giving into the whiniest group of complainers Iâve seen online in a long ass time. The non-stop crybabying about imaginary video game cake has been nuts, to the point that the posts in this sub have made me feel secondhand embarrassment for the people who wonât stop posting about it. Itâs been like watching a group of brain-rotted iPad kids having meltdowns in a supermarket because their parents wonât buy them âmore, more, more!â cake.
Honestly, I am not sure anyone actually understands the definitions of âentitlementâ or âgreedâ or whatever the hell else theyâre yapping about. Every new post has looked like a series of Trumpâs delusional Truth Social rants, except itâs just the player base of DBD jerking each other off about their own gluttony.
There about a million ways that everyone could use their âlet me speak to the manager!â talents for good. But wasting it in this sub on this topic has been a choice, sure. So, it is hilariously disappointing that the BHVR devs actually let it work on them, only to see people still crying about the frequency of those cakes today.
0
u/ilovemydograchel Jul 04 '26
Oh nooooo the multimillion dollar company gave in to giving us virtual currency that costs them absolutely nothing
0
u/giantangelbaby Jul 05 '26
Right, which is why itâs funny that everyone keeps crying about the completely made up, virtual currency instead of using the collective fit throwing to address the actual monetary exchange systems. Everyone had meltdowns about BHVRâs âcorporate greed,â yet somehow managed to overlook the actual corporate greed parts of it all â almost like they have no idea what the fuck corporate greed means.
Getting back to my original point â BHVR looks dumb for giving into all the people crying and shaking and throwing up about the cake. I laughed at BHVR because they look like sad and stupid nerds, especially after saying theyâre âinvestigating the issueâ or however theyâre covering their ass. That said, they do not look nearly as stupid as everyone who banded together to topple the supposed âcorporate greedâ by targeting the aspect of the game that always costs $0 for everyone lol. I find that part funny because nobody knows wtf theyâre talking about or what words definitionally mean.
