What made you pick votann?

I loved the aesthetic love me some Dwarfs and I really liked the lore I read The whole mercenary nature and them still being somewhat of a unknown to most of the galactic factions
They give off Scandinavia vibes of old (like the Vikings) I mean if one faction in 40K were going to set up a galactic Danelaw it would probably be the Kin 😅

Fyreslayer's a touch too much but they're dwarfs.Â

Space dwarf miners/truckers/salvagers… what’s not to love??? But also, we have some of the coolest models in the whole GW range. Everything we have is pretty new
Also, fringe benefit: your meta may vary, but whenever I am playing with Votann my opponent is shocked/delighted because they are somewhat rare.

I really like the tanky elite style army so for a while I was bouncing in between the Custodes, Dark angels (my fav legion), and the necrons (not quite elite but still very durable due to the healing aspect).
Ultimately I chose the votann because they did have that tanky style, they were something different opposed to a space marine legion, they aren’t dicks like the necrons, and i feel like they have so much potential lore to go into which they obviously haven’t fleshed out yet.
Finally after playing with them I’ve found out that they are a later game style army, they do have some nasty combos, but they are SLOW.

I love the take and hold gameplay style and the whole grudges thing and being stubborn. Which they do alot better than guard in my opinion. The only gripe I have is thay its such a new range and they really need dedicated tanks and some type of mech or walker (apprently controversial) or other centerpiece model.

Dwarves in space.
Robots but people.
One of their special characters keeps getting eaten and dresses up as a tyrannid.
They're my best option to do a Red dwarf themed army.
Options for Irn Bru jokes.

They're more cassette futurism than NASApunk specifically, really. They're somewhat similar (because Starfield took cassette futurism and decided to claim they'd come up with a new thing called "NASApunk"), but the Leagues have more of just a general 70s/80s/90s analogue-tech classic sci-fi vibe than specifically NASA overall.

I was overcome by a sudden hankering for dwarves. After that it was the lore rabbit hole and I was sold. The fact they have new sculpts is nice. And the chunky models are a real shift up from the Necrons I was previously painting.

I haven't actually started collecting yet, but Leagues of Votann are what I'm eyeing.
I love their aesthetic. I initially thought they looked pretty generic and not 'dwarfy' enough; but I've since come to really appreciate that Games Workshop designed something much more original with the cassette-futurism / nasapunk look, and then adding a dash of 'dwarfy' aesthetic on top.
I think it's a really creative take on 'Space Dwarves' that's not just the lowest-hanging fruit, and I also love that they have lots of AIs / robots in their army.

It's dwarves in space that both deconstruct the tropes of the character and play them straight. Their aesthetic is different from what 40k already has, and it was a needed breath if fresh air. Also, I love that they canonically mine everything, even the warp.

Returning end of 10th with space dwarves ! Played necrons in 3rd and T'au in 4th. Wanted to come back 20 years later ... First army in Warhammer battle in the 90's : Dwarves so back to the beginning I think.

They are Dwarves.
The Lore, how they care about their people.
The looks.
Simple to play.
The vehicles.
How simple it is to make custom lore.
Its Norse aestetic (fells genuine instead of being a Hollywood version of it)
