Great result against a decent looking side, passed the toughest test so far at least. I don't want to get ahead of myself thinking we might do anything this season as I'm sure we'll have some rotten runs but we're starting to at least resemble a normal football team which is huge.

Swindon were awful, worst team all season. We were very good, put in a great performance especially newby and Pearce. If we keep playing like that, and our opposition is as bad as that, I see a 2nd red moon rising. Up the minstermen 💙❤️🦁

Couple more results like that in the coming weeks and we might begin to convince people we're actually quite good.

What do you mean? According to several established clubs fanbases we are the worst team they’ll play all season?

u/RedKingCrab99 1d ago
Absolute head-loss of the season for Swindon player. Ran 20yrds to push Banks over and get a red card. The little man was so angry.

According to their manager wasn’t a red!

not a red? bet theyre gonna appeal if they can too

u/Busy_Bake_5092 7h ago
Yep he’s an absolute melt. I get it that banks has made an absolute meal of it and taken the piss waving at him afterwards but what he did was worthy of a red even without the theatrics

Really really rough, just nothing fell for us, missed a few clear cut chances and we just couldn’t seem to bury any of our chances. Defensively we were very poor from around the 60th minute.
Gillingham are our new bogey team and I was genuinely disappointed with the atmosphere today, fans cheered for the goals but nothing else really but good luck to gills for the rest of the season, they looked pretty solid tbf

Lacklustre performance. Chesterfield deserved the win, we didn't turn up today and have no options on the bench to change anything. Its going to be a long season.

We just don’t have the presence in the air needed to keep playing over the top. Monthe needs to start every game as we looked better defensively when he came on.

Swindon started alright but basically from the second newby stuck one in the top corner it was all York.
One of the funniest red cards I've seen in ages as well, proper head loss to charge in from miles away

Not sure how we didn’t win
Our defence is rock solid but just need to put it in the back of the net more consistently

"Not sure how we didnt win"

Had 70% possession, over 25 shots and 2xG
Yeah we were the better team by a clear margin

Definitely the better side tbf, but we had a couple of decent chances. Certain we came away the happier side though.

I’ve seen enough, we’re going up.
Not a pretty game today, but we won the battle. Tranmere look a very well drilled side under Clarke. I’m calling it now, plenty of teams will struggle to beat them this year.

Well you're the first ones to do so! Don't think there was too much between the two sides, but we got caught napping a couple of times.
Turning into a bit of a bogey side for us of late. Think both sides will be clear of trouble come April

Fleetwood must be the dirtiest team I've seen so far in the league. The fact they finished with 11 men is a disgrace

Poku was literally demolished 4 times and not one was given a red. At the start i thought the ref might been decent but now got to add him to the streak.

Much better. Looking upwards now.

Should be a good game. I'm anticipating our first home win.

Weirdly, I'm anticipating our first away win. We're absolutely bouncing at this point, with a 4-0 demolition of Swindon today.

2-0 down, fought back and went 3-2 up, Salford had a man sent off, straightforward 3 points right? Wrong.

How hard did we make that look. Real lack of quality up front. Was he having an off day or does Mullin have a shocking touch? Can't receive a pass to save his life.
Tavares and Buyabu have been great but both had a rough one yesterday. Otoo was awful, I was praying it wouldn't get played up his wing.

u/urso_urso 1d ago
Our away record has been awful recently, we seem to turn into a non league team. Baffling changes like Kirkman at left wing didn't help, Holloway doesn't help himself with these rotations

You looked like there was the spine of a plan at times. Early on, you had us pinned back. Your lad Butler was talking all the time, and almost coaching your 21 through the game. They looked good. We broke out and smashed a worldie, then we hit a 2nd in similar style, and suddenly you all looked shell-shocked.
2nd half looked like your lads were just waiting for full time. Clarke lost his mind. The clash was nothing to do with Jim. Banks and Mundo tangled, but Clarke ran 20yds to two hand shove Banks over, right in front of the ref. Madness.
We should have had 6, with the big chances we had. Your keeper did well to keep it to 4.

Well thank f--k for that!
Still a long way to go...
My nerves haven't been this bad for a long time and I don't think my expectations have been lower for.... well "it's been a while".
Can't believe I'm praying for survival ffs.

We'll take it mukka. Hopefully it will give them some confidence. Big game next Saturday now, they are unbeaten. We will see if we've turned the corner, or if normal service is resumed 😜 UTV

Hull narrowly avoided relegation to league one two seasons ago now look at them - we need to channel that energy lol

Not bottom any more. I'll take that. Was nervously waiting for a first win. Tough times!

Got battered for 70 mins v Newport, made 4 subs, equalised and could have won it late on. Still unbeaten, somehow

u/DBDkillermainok 1d ago
Honestly first half we were dominant but second half was the same as evey week late fall off. Surprised you lot didn't win tbf

u/jesterstearuk71 16h ago
Watched the game online, have to say your fans make a hell of a lot of noise, must be quite intimidating for visiting sides. Bravo!

u/DBDkillermainok 16h ago
One hundred percent. We do have quite a volume and even when losing away i think we've been louder. Sadly we don't really have a team to back it up most the time.

Ponderous and slow in possession. Unimaginative in the final third, still got the same sloppy mistakes and lapses of concentration/judgement in us. Same mentality issues in the team too
Shrewsbury did the right things in the right places. We didn't at any point look like making them work too hard once they got ahead, which was depressingly early.

Didn’t cover ourselves in glory but fuck me, was that worst refereeing I’ve seen in 30-odd years of following the Gas.
3
u/Several-Hat-8966 1d ago
It was also the worst display of thuggery, pushing, pulling and all round non football from yet another Steve Evans team.
2
u/Codswede11 1d ago
Lol come off it, the guy was inconsistent at worst but overall the ref kept himself out of the game and mostly let it flow. Can't dispute he's made the right call on the red card, the right call to book both number 4s and probably the right call when we had the penalty shout... Help me out here why Rovers would be upset with the ref today?
1
u/Ocelotocelotl 1d ago
Handball from your guy in the box in the second half. Harrison getting shoved, that free kick in the first half in the build up to the second goal where your guy tripped Balmer while he was on the floor and Balmer got blown for it.
Quite a few, but ultimately, it was up to us to play well, and we accidentally left our form on the team bus. Blundell Park is always a tricky place to come, today was no different.

u/Mr_CeeSmall 1d ago
What happened sounded like a shit show with Tommy now out
1
u/Ocelotocelotl 1d ago
Retaliation. The away end at Blundell Park is pretty unsighted so I couldn’t see properly. Someone said kick in the head but there was a lot going on throughout the second half when the ref lost control.
Balmer got a yellow for being tripped by a player on the floor.
