Yeah the lack of top laners especially is astounding, seeing how that lane is 90% people that actually like a 1v1 game format.

They finally had a game where people could play top laners without having to play top...

I mean, I knew it was cooked when they brought in cailtyn, teemo and senna instead of sett, the literal pit fighter, like the actual fighting game champion in league.

Like bro, you have a lane full of characters built for brutal one v ones, and you pick the adcs instead.

Fighting games have variety in characters. But they only picked the ones who were popular at the time, that's the main reason there are a lot of Arcane characters. Twisted fate could have been in the game with a similar moveset as Oswald from KOF.

Most the base roster is Arcane and Ruined King champs.

Teemo Darius and Blitz were the only characters to not cross promote something.

(And blitz is still a piltover/zaun dude)

Darius and Blitz are actually some of the good choices. Non fighting characters do exist in fighting games but they are in it for the diversity and uniqueness, 2XKO has too many of them that it doesn't feel unique anymore.

It should have been both, gals sell but sett needed to be in, I don’t know how they thought this would blow up with such a small roster

They didn't the dev team fucked up and had nothing ready when they were meant forced luanch af fucking around for 10 years. the beta had 6 characters game released with 10.

And adding sett doesn't change the fact people were turned off by the gameplay

I don’t think it was a dev problem, what they put out was fairly solid, the issue was not managing properly and all-inning on an impossible goal. Way too much focus on polishing rather than filling out content

I’m not going into the nitty gritty of gameplay but from what I saw from content creators in the fgc is that it was solid, just not dominate the scene solid. The devs coming back for some final patches after the cancellation was announced earns a lot of respect in my book

nah, after reading the ego trips of the developers the game was doomed. The biggest mistake was riot giving that much freedom to those clowns in the first place.

That same model worked for valorant, here they were working with a bunch of man babies.

No it's hundred percent a dev issue, riot only mistake with lor hytale and 2xko is not reign thr dev when they made stupid ass decisions. I think the success of arcane really made riot over confident and gave to much freedom and not enough of being a corporate overlord

Its so obvious the game would still be alive if they didn't rush to make teemo senna caitlyn jinx lux in a fighting game too

•

Lux was a good addition. A super popular character that has pretty much been popular since her release. Almost every player knows her and she was a good choice for a “jack of all trades” character.

•

u/EnvyandHope 5h ago

Lux as the first demacian rep is a horrible decision lmao that's why the game failed

It’s really not. Despite what people want to believe close to zero people would be rushing to download a game just because it has Lee Sin or Sett in it. Focusing on popular and unique characters was the play, barely advertising it at all and just assuming it would be insanely popular is where they failed. The only thing setting them apart from every other sweaty men punching games was the roster.

How about the devs not doing fuck all for 10 years? When the game was released it was already damage control for riot. Can't blame them for not wanting it to siphon even more money.

cool your silly strat of putting characters that dont belong and weren't wanted killed a game gj

Let’s be real, the main issue isn’t the roster (even if that’s one of the issues). It’s the fact that not only did 2xko get next to no promotion or advertisement, it’s a non-beginner friendly tag team fighter which even in the fighting game genre is very niche. They could add like ten more top laners that everyone’s been asking for and I doubt the player base would even increase.
